Spider-Man was always my favorite superhero growing up and watching the cartoon in the 90's was a big reason for that.
Having said that, the new Spider-Man resembles the series in just about every way...
The first two Spider-Man movies were very solid, especially the first. I'd put the first as the second best super hero movie made.
However, the 3rd completely killed anything the former director and cast had. It was rushed and cheesy.
I'm glad they decided to redo the whole thing. Can't wait. Anybody else grow up watching the Amazing Spider-Man cartoon? If so, notice all the similarities to the new movie?

Great comics, very good first two films, the comic film craze is over. If this turns out good, I'll watch it, but there have been more terrible movies than good.

Agreed. IMO the only decent Spiderman flick was the second one. My interest in this film is pretty low after Spiderman 3.

The trailer looks interesting and I'll probably watch it but agree with an earlier poster, I think it's too soon to reboot the entire series.

Spider-Man 3 damn near killed the franchise. Wait a second, what am I thinking, it did. This a a reboot, therefore it literally killed the franchise.
Spider-Man 3 was setup to be the BEST superhero movie ever, and they totally committed a massacre with that horrendous piece of shit.
I'm excited for the reboot, but I'm not sure what to think about the cast for Peter Parker. I'm leaning towards a miss, more than a hit. I'll probably end up seeing it just because I love superhero movies, but my expectations will be low (much lower than Spider-Man 3; I pray I am never letdown as much as I was with that film).

Do they really need to redo the origin again? We get it, he was bit by a radioactive spider. Please just bring on the bad guys.

Seems to me like they're trying to be more accurate with the comics this time around given that they actually mention his parents, and that his love interest is Gwen Stacy and not MJ (which is how it was in the comics).

Wow I just got a chance to watch that trailer and holy shit. That whole First Person view scene looked like total shit. I hope that was a joke, I've seen better CGI in a video game cut scene. Fake as shit. Looks terrible in my honest opinion.

Really? Did it look fake? Yeah. But I thought it was a cool/interesting perspective. I liked it for a teaser.

This is interesting --> http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/08/02/new-spider-man-swinging-into-comic-book-shops-following-death-of-peter-parker/
Apparently Marvel is, or has, killed off Peter Parker. Not sure why you would kill off Peter Parker when you're releasing a new movie STARRING Peter Parker. That doesn't make a whole lot of marketing sense to me.
Someone is dropping the ball here.
Clarification... this is Marvel's "Ultimate" universe/timeline.
