You can make great comic book movies; See 300, Sin City, Batman, Road to Perdition, Iron Man. I understand what you're saying with the fact that they're comic book movies, but personally I find them generic, boring, and objectively just bad movies. If they didn't have a nostalgic franchise associated with them I bet you'd agree.

I honestly can't watch Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, Thor, Superman Returns, etc.. without thinking wow this is garbage. Could be better but hollywood gets lazy. I really wish Hollywood would cut out CGI for one year. About the only way we'll see any innovation and creativity come back to the big screen.

I wish Hollywood would drop this 3D craze.

Comic book movies outside of like 2 or 3 in history are just fucking corny (Captain America was one of hte worst movies I've ever seen because of the corniness). 3D is a fucking scam

Yeah. Reminds me of the mid-80s. Every third movie in a franchise was 3-D and they all fucking sucked. Jaws 3-D, Friday the 13th III, etc. Guh...

I saw Act of Valor last night. Wow... what a great movie. Sure the "acting" wasn't any good, but you knew that going into the movie. This movie really gave me a deep appreciation for the men (& women) who serve this country (not that I didn't have any before). I also walked out feeling VERY proud to be an American. It just makes you wonder... those were the things we saw... imagine what REALLY goes on that is "top secret" and we don't know about. For me, it did seem to be pretty realistic. My two favorite scenes were both early on in the movie - 1) where the guy creeps up out of the water to catch the guy after a sniper puts one in his head, so the guy doesn't make a splash; and 2) when the calvary (aka the machine gun boat) comes rushing around the corner and just unleashes what can only be describes as "hell."

Very awesome movie. Anyone who doesn't like / appreciate this movie has 0 heart and 0 respect for the service. I thought it was VERY well done. [Wouldn't mind seeing a "sequal" as well]

People irritate me. I went to check out Star Wars because I assumed it would be done in the style of Avatar where stuff was flying at you almost the entire movie and I was dead wrong. I don't recall seeing one thing that justified paying more for but I digress. There were a ton of kids there and that is fine because Star Wars is good for all ages but one situation stuck out in my mind. There was a kid that was probably 3 or 4 about 7 seats down from me and for the whole time he was there he did everything but watch the movie. He yelled, turned around in his seat and tried talking to people behind him, and constantly coughed. Finally with about 15 minutes left in the movie the dad decided to leave. Plus A LOT of the kids talked about the whole movie. Oh and all of the previews were for kids movies. I didn't get that but oh well I suppose.

So anyways I had already decided before today that I wouldn't pay to watch any more 3D movies but this really helped make my decision.

George Lucas is taking advantage of the fact he has a new generation of Star Wars fans. I have three boys all under under 12--- they started watching Star Wars: the Clone Wars on Cartoon Network a few years back and absolutely love everything about the series. They have now watched every one of the movies from the Big Screen. My boys aren't the only ones in the act; one of our neighbor kids had a Star Wars party last summer. Each kid came dressed as their favorite character. There were lightsabers given as party favors. It was a huge party.

Star Wars 3D is all about the $$$.

Yeah, I totally understand the new generation of fans thing and I think that is great. I love Star Wars and I think the series is big enough to play at the theater again like it currently is. They probably didn't have to do it in 3D to get people to go but I understand it. I just wish the 3D craze would end.

3D usually does suck. Avatar was amazing but everything else is just a money drop.

Saw Cronicle...was decent but cornballish at the end.
wifey made me see the Vow...not too bad for a chicky flick.
woman in the black dress wasnt too bad for a scary flick...most of them are just plain bad.

Saw war horse too...that was really good.

i agree. I hate the action camera and thought the plot and character development were weak.

I saw Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close yesterday, was a pretty good movie.

I do agree about the whole 3D craze, Avatar was honestly the ONLY movie I have seen in 3D that was worth the extra money.

I'm kind of shocked about Safe House. I mean I didn't figure it would be an award winning movie but the previews made it look pretty decent.

Safe House was entertaining, but not as good as I was hoping. Denzel didnt seem like he was into the role at all. Ryan Reynolds surprised me as a solid action guy though. I havent seen his other "action" roles.

I can't take Van Wilder seriously in seriously movies. Denzels character could've been so much better. it was just a weak movie

Alot of people hated it, but van Wilder was pretty damn convincing in "buried"

Wow Ghost Rider 2 was horrible. I didn't expect an Oscar worthy movie but damn I figured it would be as good as the first and I was sadly mistaken. I walked out before it was over.

Good to know. I only expect to be entertained by movies, so we pretty much agree with what is "good". I won't waste my time with that one.

Although I've watched some pretty bad movies. I've only ever walked out of one movie and I rented one once that I didn't finish because it was so terrible. I'm curious to see how bad a movie has to be for you to walk out.
