The timing of this is very odd, although I guess it makes sense to do it now so that your interim has a week or two before camp to get things together. I don't know the timing of everything going on with UNC and the NCAA or if new information has been brought to the university's attention that isn't public yet, but it seems to me that it would have made more sense to wait until after the season.

Definitely makes it seem as though there's something more going on behind the scenes, but there's a lot of talk on the Carolina boards about this being the result of new members on the Board of Trustees. Kinda similar to Tressel in the fact that the BOT's support began to diminish, so a change was forced.

haha That wouldn't be a bad move for the program. His style ran rampant over the ACC before.

Don't forget he did just get Michigan put on probation. Maybe not the best follow up to a coach involved in a scandal.
