Auto Body Shop Question

I need to have some body work done on my car. Any suggestions on what place is best in the Central Ohio area? Anyone have any experiences with 3 C Body Shop , Auto Body Collision and Glass in Hilliard or Mid City Body Shop in Newark? I want to go to a place that is reputable, honest and will do good work. I'm not concerned about price , just the quality of work.

The 3C body shop guy is a douche and his commercials are terrible.

I would not take my car to him just based on that....

The first place to go should always be the Better Business Bureau. Look and see how long they've been in business and also review the complaint history. Not saying it's a waste of time to ask for recommendations, but understand 8 of 10 customers could be satisfied and it would still be a place you want to avoid.

It depends on what you want. Any "friend" of the insurance company would NOT be a friend of yours. I do know that. It depends on how you want your car done. If you want cheap, imitation parts or used parts, that's how most autobody shops do business. If you want it done right and have to fight with the insurance company over the cost, then contact a place that will use the right parts.

Does 3C's Kool-Aid come in pink?

Do you honestly believe that Bob Juniper/3C bullies Nationwide, State Farm, Allstate and the other big boy insurers? Bob talks a good game on his commericals, but at the end of the day 3C writes their estimate, the insurer writes an estimate and tells them how much they are willing to pay. 3C either takes the money or else the work gets done elsewhere (or alternatively they get it directly from the car owner).

If you want to stick it to the insurance company? Achbach in Westerville. Most cars he works on are $50k+, but will work on anything. Tru2Form is typically pretty good. I would never ever ever go to 3C. Glassburn in Westerville is also really good.

"imitation parts" are typically the same exact parts built by the same contractor and either sold by a distributor or the auto company. SHOWA sells the same products to Honda as well as wholesalers.

I dont see where I endorsed 3c?

What I'm saying is, last time my car needed fixed, the insurance company told me how much it would be. I literally had to have a company find a used part to get it that cheap. I learned my lesson.

Was it "used" or was it aftermarket? There is a big difference. Your insurance policy is to put you back into pre-accident condition. If it was used I am guessing your vehicle was at least a couple years old and did not have it a new part on it before the damage was done.

the part was from a junkyard or some kind of used parts store - it was weird but it was just a bumper

It's really hard to get an insurance company to buy a brand new bumper cover on a car a few years old. Honestly, there isn't much difference between a refurb bumper cover and a new one

Let's put it this way. Say no insurance money is involved. You are paying out of your own pocket. You knock the rear bumper of a guy's 2000 Honda Civic. He gives you an estimate for a 2011 bumper that costs $2500. You find out you can get a used bumper for $500. I would bet you would tell the guy you are only going to pay $500 vs. $2500 for a bumper that is newer than the one the guy had in the first place.

Is it not a few years old?

Edit: maybe you should read your policy on oem replacement. Typically its only for the first few years of the vehicles life

Roush Honda Bodyshop in that case then. They have their own bodyshop that does awesome work.

Not really close I'm sure....but Perfection 1 was has been great to me and they do really good work. There is one in Circleville.

Independence Auto body in Newark is where i go with all my body repairs. They do great work!

Have you ever used Achbach? What do you mean by stick it to the insurance company? I just really want them to do a good quality job. I've heard too many horror stories about bodyshops! Since my car is a 2009 I would want them to use OEM parts , new if possible. I was told I have a right to insist they use OEM parts.

They have a higher labor rate that insurance companies agree to because they are considered a luxary and exotic bodyshop. Not worth it for a honda

Just remember that many OEM parts are sold by wholesalers without the auto manufacturer stamp on it and it is exactly the same.

How about Auto Body Collision and Glass in Hilliard , they have an A plus rating with the Better Business Bureau.
