This otta give ya a woody ender.
County Jail, 20-year-old Kylen English told the police officer behind the wheel “I want to die.”

English also asked the officer, “Do you believe you go to heaven if you kill yourself?”
The 6-foot, 210-pound English,
who was handcuffed with his hands behind his back but not belted to his seat, dove out the broken window, then jumped off the bridge to his death below
“Shouldn’t people be safe when they are in custody?” Forward asked. “We expect our men and women in blue to protect and serve the citizens of our community. This also includes citizens in the custody of the police department.”

I don't think so. I know I wasnt when I got arrested 2 years ago. My thing is how does a guy in handcuffs get out of a car window and over to the bridge before the cop can get out of the car and stop him.

How do you figure? when under arrest, the State is responsible for your health and well being. He obviously was under some form of direess, IE: banging head on brick wall. I would thing they should have put his ass in a straight jacket and hauled him of to the Ole Loony bin.

Not that I care, I think this is Darwinism at its finest.

I think a lot of the Dayton cruisers now have molded plastic seats in the back. I'm not sure if they have seatbelts or not.

iliketurtles, where the cruiser would have been stopped only has a narrow sidewalk between the roadway and the side of the bridge. It would not take long at all to clear that distance, especially if traffic was still flying by on the driver's side and stalled the officer from exiting for a moment. I've also seen cruiser windows get kicked out, and it appeared suprisingly easy compared to what I thought it would be.

cc, he hit on the rocky flood plain area where there was no water.

Devil's, as I understand it, the officer had pulled over to address the fact that he was beating his head on the window.

With all the information I've read thus far, blaming it on the cop is like placing the blame on the gun when someone gets shot.

There aren't seatbelts in the backseat of most cruisers, at least from what I've seen.

If he broke out of the car, I don't feel the officer/state is responsible for him anymore. His actions had consequences.

I was talking with my son yesterday about this guy. Turns out they were in the same class together a couple years ago. My son said the guy did have a good singing voice, but other than that, the dude was worthless. Though DPD don't deserve any awards for their handling of the kid, I don't think they deserve the POS moniker. I agree with Devil's Advocate that this was Darwinism at its finest.
