So...Manchester United become the first EPL team to get a training top sponsor. Thanks to DHL, the Red Devils' training top deal now gives MUFC a better training shirt sponsor than Arsenal has for it's game kit! Woohoo! Glory Glory Man United!!!

Also...Samuel Eto'o's new contract would allow him to put his face on Arsenal's jersey! Do it!

Glad to see Teal Bunbury in the squad. Also will be nice to have Clint and Jozy on the roster.

Im hoping our defense puts forth a better effort than they did versus Mehico, and also hoping Brek Shea gets a start and plays a full 90 in at least 1 of the games.

Hes gotten the call up a few times before. He played at Akron. Up top with Steve Zakuani his first year (08) and then Zak was drafted and Bunbury was the man. Led nation with 17 goals and started every game for Akron in 09 and then went pro.

Can't say I have any real complaints about this roster. I am not a big Kljestan fan...but he deserves to be there. I think Bill Hamid, Zach Loyd, Fabian Johnson, and Jeff Larentowicz are still a bit of a mystery at the international level. Definitely a stronger roster than we had against Mexico. Looking forward to the game!

I'll be in Chicago the night of the game. May go somewhere to watch it, just depends.

UPDATE: The rumors were confirmed. Serie A, Italian first division tournament, will not play out its first weekend due to a players' strike.
Gazzetta dello Sport informs that there is no agreement in place unlike the situation in Spain.
The new collective bargaining agreement proposed by the players' union was not accepted by the league's authorities and the players decided to go on strike and not play this weekend.

It happened in Spain where the first week of La Liga was postponed and a solution is still far from being found and now it happens in Italy as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport.
The president of the Italian soccer players' union Damiano Tommasi has insisted that if a new collective bargaining agreement is not signed, the players will go on strike and there won't be any Serie A action this weekend.
There will be a series of meetings on Wednesday, including one between the presidents of Serie A clubs. There will be a better picture after those and we will probably know by then whether the start of Serie A will happen this weekend or not.

Fernando Gago is not wanted by his current club Real Madrid, but there are a couple of other teams interested in him.
Manchester City is believed to be after the Argentine midfielder says Spanish newspaper Marca.
On the other hand, reports coming from Italy on Twitter suggest Gago is very near a move to AS Roma.

Initially it was about a contract extension discussion. Now it is about the arrival ofJuan Mata and interest in Alvaro Pereira. But despite all the rumors Florent Malouda is set to stay at Chelsea.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas doesn't want to sell the French midfielder.
"We can't let ourselves sell talent of this quality," said Villas-Boas.
Looks like Malouda will be used in a squad rotation that is going to be needed for Chelsea playing in several competitions as it normally does and Villas-Boas is right in trying to keep such a talented player as an option.

UPDATE: One day it seems Lassana Diarra is about to sign for Tottenham, the next he is staying at Real Madrid and then the following he is again on Spurs radar.
According to Spanish newspaper As, Diarra says he is not moving to Tottenham as there was never an agreement and he doesn't expect there will be one soon.
Journalist Guillem Balague, on the other hand, thinks Diarra's comments are something like a bluff.
"His words yesterday (suggesting he wants to stay) are interpreted by Madrid as a strategy for him to get more wages at Spurs," said Balague on Twitter.

One of those deals in which everybody is happy is about to happen. Lassana Diarra will join Tottenham Hotspur from Real Madrid.
Spanish newspaper Marca says only official confirmation is missing on this $17 million deal that will bring Diarra back to the English Premier League after a spell with Portsmouth in the past.
Harry Redknapp, who was Diarra's boss at Portsmouth, has been clear all summer long in his intention of signing the French midfielder, while Jose Mourinho didn't have him on his plans at Real Madrid.

Joey Barton has confirmed the rumors and has joined QPR on a 4-year contract.
The deal will be announced soon by the West London club.

It seems Joey Barton will leave Newcastle United in the end. After he was suspended by the club and rumored to be heading out, he resumed training with the first squad and played a part in Newcastle's first two Premier League matches.
Now it seems he will join Queens Park Rangers after the player himself hinted he is leaving Newcastle.
"Going for a medical now, still no contract offer from NUFC [Newcastle United Football Club]...thing that just about makes my mind up. Don't want to leave Newcastle, I've made that clear but my hands are tied," was what Joey Barton said on Twitter.
Details on the deal are yet to come to the surface but it looks imminent.

Harry Redknapp saw Robbie Keane depart to join Los Angeles Galaxy but now he has added two strikers to improve Tottenham's attack.
Despite rumors that linked him with a return to Real Madrid after spending the second half of last season there, Emmanuel Adebayor has joined Tottenham on a season loan instead as the club confirms. As a result he will play for his former club's Arsenal biggest local rivals.
Another striker who joins Spurs on loan is Spanish U21 international Yago Falque who will leave Juventus to make a surprising move to the English Premier League. He could be an option coming from the bench while Adebayor looks set to partner or challenge Jermain Defoe in the first team.
Now Redknapp is expected to make progress on a couple of other targets as he plans to land Joe Cole, also on loan and Scott Parker from West Ham in a permanent move.

Barcelona beat Porto on Friday in the Super Cup (CL Winner versus UEFA Cup Winner) 2-0. Messi and Fabregas with the goals. Fabregas was a substitute.

It appears that Beckerman will probably not join the USMNT v. Costa Rica. He's probably going to stay with RSL for the weekend.

Barca opens play tomorrow, as they get an extra day for their UEFA match versus Porto.

The rest of La Liga....well for the time being it doesnt even matter.

Clint Dempsey is arguably the best American player abroad. After scoring for Fulham on Saturday against Newcastle rumors of a possible move to La Liga started.
According to Sky Sports, Sevilla have asked Fulham about Dempsey in an attempt to bring him to Spain.
Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in Dempsey.
It is believed Fulham manager Martin Jol will not sell him for anything less than $13 million.

Stuart Holden is set to return to action on Tuesday in a game between Bolton and Fulham reserves.
The USMNT midfielder has been out injured since March and according to Soccer By Ives, he has been more than a month ahead in his rehabilitation from injury.
Depending on how well he does on Tuesday, Holden will try to make a comeback to the first team on September 10 when Bolton play Manchester United at home.
That would mean he will be ready for Bolton's next match as this weekend there is no action in the English Premier League because of the international break in which several national teams will play friendly matches.

UPDATE: Alvaro Pereira gets closer and closer to Chelsea as the transfer market deadline approaches.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola says the Uruguay midfielder is near a move from FC Porto to Chelsea which could leave his current club a fee in the region of $58 million.

UPDATE: Chelsea made an offer for Alvaro Pereira but there is not a lot of confidence at the club that the attempt will be successful.
"The only thing I can confirm to you is that we have made a bid for him and we are very far apart in terms of numbers," said Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas at a press conference today.

The success of the Uruguayan national team is starting to see the results in this transfer market. To the possible transfers for Diego Forlan, Sebastian Coates and Diego Lugano, we have to add another potential deal after Chelsea placed an offer for FC Porto midfielder Alvaro Pereira.
The Guardian says Chelsea offered $27 million for Pereyra, who was one of the best players in Uruguay's Copa America winning campaign. The obstacle could be that if FC Porto is not willing to sell, Chelsea would have to improve the offer to match the release clause set at $43 million. A long way out.
Pereira plays on the left of midfield but can also be used as a defender or even play up front if needed, but most importantly, Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas knows all about him as the Uruguayan was a key player for him at Porto.

UPDATE: It is expected that Diego Forlan will have a press conference this early afternoon in Spain to announce his decision to leave Atletico Madrid.
He is going to Italy to join Inter. The deal should be announced in the next few hours.

UPDATE: Citing a source close to the player, Goal.com alleges that Arsenal will acquire U.S. star Clint Dempsey before Wednesday's transfer deadline for a fee just north of $16 million.

UPDATE: It appears Sevilla will not continue with its interest on USMNT and Fulham player Clint Dempsey.
A report on MLS official website reveals that Sevilla's press officer Miguel Angel Gomez said the club is not interested in Dempsey.
However, there are still many teams that could be making a move for the Texas native. Among them are Aston Villa, Fiorentina, Napoli and AS Roma. Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal could also be on the picture for a player Fulham would ask a fee of $16 million.
Fulham will have to be careful here. A move to offload the player of the season from last term as voted by fans is always a dangerous one to make and it could have a bad impact among them. The fee the club would get would be irrelevant to fans and Fulham doesn't have much time to bring in replacements.

Rumors about Michael Bradley making a move from Borussia Monchengladbach to Chievo Verona were confirmed by his agent as he announced the USMNT midfielder agreed to join the Italian club.
"I am happy to report that Michael Bradley has signed with A.C. Chievo Verona of the Italian Serie A," wrote Ron Waxman on Twitter.
The deal has not been announced officially by Chievo Verona but it is expected to be very soon.
Establishing himself quickly in Italy will be key for Bradley to earn a call up from Jurgen Klinsmann for future USMNT matches.
