They weren't actually at the union hall, just close to it which to me is just the newspaper trying to make it into a better story. No where in the article does it say the union is sticking up for the offending employees. People drinking and/or smoking dope at lunch happens everywhere.

Hubby is an IAFF member and trust me, there is no drinking on his job. (Just by me when he's at his job :D )

from the article
At least two workers told the station's investigative reporter they do not want to work with people who have been abusing drugs or alcohol prior to returning to work.
They were even turned in by coworkers who I assume are union members.

Another anti-Union thread by Belly. Shocking. And just like always, it's trying to make something out of nothing.

Im not a fan of Unions..just because my father lost a good job and had to work a bunch of random stuff when I was younger. Then he took shit from his former co-workers because he was out trying to support his family instead of wasting months of his life on the picket line.

Let me get this right .. You are from Massillon ... should we count the number of manufacturing that has closed or moved out of Massillon because of the Unions ...
Or are those rusty building and boarded up warehouses what you call Tiger town...

What once was a great area and great tradition is now just a shell left behind by the Unions...

Anti-union or just presenting the facts and truth ....

No, you're just anti-union. That's been obvious. See this thread. Trying to make something out of nothing just because you hate the Unions. My Union job is doing just fine. Damn. A Union company making money. How can that be possible?

People that say look at all the jobs going to China/India need to first look at Unions for sending them there. The days of being paid $30 an hour to screw in a light bulb are over when you can pay someone $30 a year to do the same thing in China.

I worked for a sub-contractor for several years at Chiefs place of employment. Im 50/50 on if they really did much for me, other than take money each week from my check. There are certain types of large companies where I believe union representation is needed. From what Ive seen first hand Timken is one of them. The union serves the workers there well.

Ya know what, Belly, if factories didn't treat their workers like some 3rd-world sweatshop, there wouldn't be unions.

Labor unions have done served their part, imo. There is a reason they are dying off.

Union employee right here!! In all honesty tho they're the same as regular employees as far as laziness goes...I mean come on every place has slackers. Thing is though the job security is insane, I basically can't get fired and my benefits are better than anyone I kno

I have China, India and Germany manufacture my products. I have a product that I developed so I could bring jobs back to Stark County. The retail aspect and mass volume will be manufactured in China but the components and a special hex code will let me develop and custom design from the same product with high profits for specialty application. I am trying to bring jobs back not piss them away like Unions do. I will pay good wages, provide safety for my employment and benefit for a job will done but I will not be told what to do, how much to pay and what is required of me as a employer. You want to Unionize go circle jerk around a burning 50 gallon drum…

What there to protect when the worker don't have a job and company is closed. Profits is what keep employees employed...

Do you have any idea what an entrepreneur has to jeopardize to start a business and to keep a business running? Tell me what a employee jeopardizes?

Good people get paid good …. Simple no Union required.

Nothing against you personally, as you might be a great worker. However, I have an enormous gripe with this practice.
