He should resign. "Lawmakers" who are in positions to administrate laws over the common citizen should be held to a higher standard. Ohio lawmakers have chosen to make a OVI offenses a 1st degree misdemeanor with serious penalties for the offender.
As for politicians getting drunk and driving in cars with women not their wives for the purposes of getting laid, Ted Kennedy set the bar pretty high.
If Mecklenborg chooses to arrogantly stick it out I doubt he gets re-elected. Likely he chooses to not seek re-election or he does not make it out of the primary. His picture donning the orange jumpsuit will do wanders in campaign commercials.

Rep. Weiner and Govs. Spitzer and McGreevy agree, as does former President Bill Clinton.

Ah, the thread finally took the predictable path of people on one side commenting on how wrongdoing is commonplace on the other side and people on the other side trying to deflect that by mentioning related wrongdoing on the first side. Thread actually got to double-digits posts beforehand, which is surprising.
As for the case, never heard of the dude (when I saw the name, I thought it was familiar, but then realized I was thinking of former Denver Bronco Karl Mecklenberg, but after clicking on the link and seeing his pic, yeah...dude like that ain't paying for sex, he's probably not finding any.

You guys were all over the Weiner story, this is much worse. I am calling you all out for this one. You are a buch of hacks whith zero creditability if you think he should not resign right now.

Sincerely, Barney FrankI suppose what's so different about this story is that a male Republican politician was found with a woman. That's not the M.O. for Republicans these days, lol.

I agree. His position as a State Representative holds him to a higher standard. Like I said earlier he should resign and why. It does not change my opinion of the Heartbeat bill nor should it.Bigdogg;820879 wrote:WLW in Cincinnati broke the story Fish and you know it. Wiener did the right thing. I doubt anyone here that thought Wiener should resign believes Mecklenborg should stick it out.Bigdogg;820879 wrote:You guys were all over the Weiner story, this is much worse. As for the video Mecklenborg sounded like a douche. For a lawyer he sure sounded pretty ignorant. The officer kept pointing that out as he asked him questions. He was obviously intoxicated. The officer showed a lot of patience by not tacking on resisting arrest to the charges. Surprised he only registered a .097 BAC. Must have been quite a while till they got to draw the blood.
The little pot bellied pig seemed awfully concerned about getting released after his arrest. I think he was still hoping to boink this chick.

You're right about the partisan bickering, of course. Now take a look at just who it was that brought up party politics first. The rest of us were reminding him that this crap happens to both parties, not just one.
