Wifey has partner meetings in Columbus the days before we want to leave for vaca. We're looking at driving down to pick her up Friday afternoon in Cbus, then take off for Mrytle. Is it quicker across 70E or is there another route, say down thru Athens?

BTW, 70 to 77 south to WV from Columbus is the worst drive in this state. Absolutely miserable.

Also, 33 is 4 lane that entire way except Nelsonville (only real "slow down" there is), and some of it south of Athens, so you move along just fine that way.

Even the couple 2 lane pieces south of Athens are a "Super 2" highway, meaning while it's 2 lane it still operates like a limited access highway (55 MPH and no stops).

I drive that to 271 a few times yearly, definitely nowhere near as bad as 70-77 to WV

I will be on 271 tmrw....guess just not looking forward to it. Its the over patrolling of 71 that makes it the worst. Feels like cops at every exit.

I feel like I never see cops to I get to NY on the 90. They hide in the damn snow plow turn arounds that are cut out in the hills. It's nasty.

Then why worry about where the cops hide and the number of them?

Ohio has a plain sight law, NY does not. Hence the "it's nasty"

Is it just me, or does this thread seem to pop up on every forum-based website at least once a year?
