College baseball isn't fair to Big Ten schools, Delany says.
Delany formally proposed the CWS move from eight teams to 10, with the two new slots reserved for cold-weather schools.

The last Big Ten team to reach the CWS: Michigan in '84.
Delany recalls a time when it wasn't that way. A time when Big Ten schools like Ohio State and Minnesota competed for and won national championships. The Big Ten won six national titles from 1953 to 1966.
In those days, the NCAA tournament was regionalized. Teams from the same geographic district competed for a CWS spot.

The bracket expanded in 1999 from 48 to 64, adding a weekend to the NCAA tournament. Over the years, scholarships and roster sizes have been cut, giving rise to parity. Schools like Dallas Baptist have a shot to make a CWS run.

The notion that a school like Rice, with 3,000 undergraduate students, has an advantage over Ohio State is “a joke,” Graham says.

Wonder if he thinks a team from the South should be guaranteed a spot in the NCAA Frozen Four ice hockey championship?

Ten schools averaged more than 4,000 in attendance this season — topped by LSU’s 10,556. Five of those 10 were from the SEC. For the record, Vanderbilt’s average home attendance was 2,681, ranking 27th in the nation.

No Big Ten school made the 44-team list, which required average attendance of 1,200 to make the cut. Big Ten pledge Nebraska checked in right behind Vanderbilt, averaging 2,366.

Okay I didn't read the whole article...yet, but i figure it's about it's unfair that we have to play in bad weather up North, yet come football season we are better for playing in bad weather because that's what football is all about and those teams down South couldn't handle our weather in football season...

Or I could be wrong, so Oh well if that's the case...

EDIT: Okay I have read through the articles. Some good points and bad points on both sides. It's my theory that this stuff cycles around in all college sports. Some teams are good, then have down years and others improve. I believe most of it depends on recruiting, not the weather. The statements about Nebraska's Coach traveling south two or three weeks in February and March does make some sense. Maybe others should take a page from their book.

Hey UCONN made it to the CWS world series this year--- if they made it then there is no freaking excuse for B10 schools not to make it.

No they didn't. UCONN made a Super Regional but was swept by South Carolina.

Ohio State was one win away from the CWS in the early 00's and in 03 hosted the super regionals but was swept by Southwest missouri st I believe. Also OSU has won a CWS before, minnesota has three titles and michigan has two. Last title from a big 10 school was 1966 Ohio State.

If OSU would just hire Kent's coach they would have a few more appearances

idk about baseball...but in relation to football and the cold weather...I would like to see some bowl games and/or nat'l title games played in "the shoe" or "the big house" bring the warm weather teams into the cold to play...then see how that "SEC dominance" pans out!

Right!!!! I remember all the tOSU/tSUN games I have been to in the past....(the ones that decided the big 10 title)...I forgot about the sweet domes that were built temporarily over those respective stadiums.....damn beer!!!

Call you as you wish, but why does the BIG games always cater to the fair weather teams? Some of the BEST games ever have been in Ice, snow, sleet, rain, muddy slop....(yes i know that mud and slop games are a thing of the past)

You do realize there is a Big Ten CG this year right? Lucas Oil Stadium was chosen over outdoor venues. You can't whine for sec teams to play in cold weather when your conference opts to play indoors.

Yes, I realize that. Along with adding Nebrasksa. Im not disputing what you say...simply stating that your ideas/facts are in the future, and have went unprecedented...no big 10 CG...

Although I admit I think the SEC is much more talented and just better overall than the Big 10, I always wondered how any SEC school or warm weather school would handle a game mid november/december in the midwest.

As for the big 10 commish QQ.

Just a further example of the pussification of this country. "Oh no, it's not fair! Everyone should get recognition!." The fact of the matter is there is just better talent overall in warmer areas in the country.

I dont think its hypocritical at all, I would love to see some of the bigger bowl games in colder weather stadiums

You can't argue to have a big bowl game in one if your conferences outdoor stadiums when your conference chose to have their championship game indoors.

Sure you can. They just were .

But really, why not? Pretty much EVERY Big 10 team has outdoor games normally. Why not play just one game in a dome? It's not the football teams making the decision anyway. It's the Big 10 conference knowing that it'll probably be a better "experience" for the fans. It's also a neutral location, and it's not really favoring one school too much (maybe IU and Purdue). But teams get used to traveling anyways, so it's alright where they selected it. It's as central as it's going to get probably.

I am a fan of outdoor games. I like the weather. That's the reason I have only experienced Lambeau Field in December -- it just wouldn't be the same being there in August. I also think the 2014 Super Bowl being in New York is a good thing. The elements are fun.

We saw last year that it doesn't matter where the bowl games are hosted, the weather and elements play a role no matter if you are south or north. Wasn't it the Penn State game that was just absolutely pouring rain and the field was trashed? So if you can have weather in the south, why not have weather in the north? I don't think there's a problem with that.

When you look a the big 10 schedule there don't really seem to be many cold weather games. Occasionally it happens but it's not like there are more truly nasty weather conditions compared to good weather conditions.

Bingo. OSU/Michigan is usually played in 50 and 60 degree weather. I think the whole B1G cold weather thing is a big myth.

There definitely arent many cold weather games in the big 10 which is why people who make that argument are annoying as shit.
