cost, experience and advice please....

Had Kinetico out today, Culligan tomorrow for info/quotes.

If you know a plummer with knowledge of water softening systems talk to him, have him install it, and pay him cash money. That will be your best bargain.

I paid $750 using this method.

This. You dont need the expensive softeners. Kinetico and Culligan are outrageous. Then they try to convince you to buy only their salt too which is WAY overpriced.
