I actually don't understand how that happens. Was the cop on duty? If so, why was he drinking? Was the cop off duty? If so, why did he have a gun?

No it isn't. Slapping a girl on the ass is far less heinous of a crime than killing a person.

You don't shoot a person because they were being an asshole in a bar. You call the cops, which this cop definitely should have known. Inexcusable.

When criminals do wrong to police I want them punished severely because of what the cops are there to do, protect us. But I also am very much in favor or extremely harsh punishments when cops do things that are clearly wrong as a counterbalence to the power we give them.

Cop shouldn't have had a gun at all. And don't "stand up" to people unless you're willing to throw down. Know what's more manly than "standing up" to the guy? Alerting the police officers that were apparently in plain view to come arrest the guy.

And pretend like they even teach gym teachers *ahem* health teachers, how to read.

Didn't think carrying a gun while drunk was something you could do. Definitely know that shooting people is incredibly illegal.

There is no excuse for this officer to not know that the appropriate response to the situation was to get the guy arrested. Instead he murdered him.

From what I gathered from the article, the evidence of who was there/what happened is shaky. It'd be easier to tag him with murder than it would manslaughter...probably why he got manslaughter.

Regardless, this thread is fucking pointless because the dude is probably going to jail for 20 years because of it. If he got bagged for murder, it'd be the same fucking length of time.
