It seems he's not been the most respected guy in his rankings. I think he draws off of multiple ranking system and polls to come up with his own but it's the only thing I got my hands on this early.

I do know this after going to two spring practices and the spring game, Navy lost a lot and looked terrible this spring. They may not even be 86 come year's end.

Navy Ranked 57th in the country by Lindy's College Football

Based on rankings Mids expected to go 7-5 in 2011

Navy opponents ranked in front of the Midshipmen include: South Carolina (#11), Notre Dame (#19), Air Force (#35), Southern Miss (#45) and SMU (#53).

The Mids are ranked ahead of: Rutgers (#76), Troy (#77), Army (#78), East Carolina (#82), Western Kentucky (#117) and San Jose State (#118). Delaware, which played in the FCS National Championship game a year ago, was not part of the rankings.

South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore and defensive back Stephon Gilmore were tabbed as First-Team All-Americans, while Gamecock wide receiver Alshon Jeffery was a Second-Team All-American selection.

As far as position rankings, East Carolina quarterback Dominique Davis was rated as the 20th best quarterback in the country, while SMU quarterback Kyle Padron was ranked 25th. Lattimore was ranked second among running backs, while Bobby Rainey of Western Kentucky was ranked 16th. Jeffery was ranked third at wide receiver, while Lance Lewis of East Carolina was ranked 19th.

On defense, South Carolina's Devin Taylor was slotted as the third-best defensive end in the country, while Jonathan Massaquoi of Troy is ranked eighth. Manti Te'o of Notre Dame was named the sixth best inside linebacker in the country, while the Irish's Darius Fleming was named the 12th best outside linebacker. Gilmore of South Carolina was ranked the third best, while Notre Dame's Harrison Smith (third) and San Jose State's Duke Ihenacho (12th) were ranked among the top safeties in the country.

South Carolina's receiving corps was ranked as the sixth best wide receivers in the country, while its defensive line was ranked third in the country. Notre Dame's linebackers were tabbed as the seventh best linebacking corps, while South Carolina's secondary ranked 10th.

Why did you go through the hassle of typing out Delaware if he didn't even rank them? And why would they be ranked? They're I-AA.

I could be missing something though, the names on that list are pretty random and inconsequential. Who cares who he ranked in the 90s?

After looking a little closer, it looks like navy's schedule.. But who cares about navy?

I didn't go through the hassle of typing out Delaware. I copied the schedule with rankings next to them. What would have been a hassle would have been to take time to delete someone from the schedule. Why would they be ranked? That's a strange question. They aren't ranked in his poll which it clearly shows.

The "names" / teams aren't random. They are the opponents of the thread title.

They will beat Notre Dame.

Athlon Sports College Football Preview ranks Navy 56th in its preseason magazine.

Athlon ranked five Navy opponents ahead of the Midshipmen: Notre Dame (No. 6), South Carolina (No. 21), Air Force (No. 29), SMU (No. 49) and Southern Miss (No. 55). Opponents ranked behind Navy include: Rutgers (No. 71), Army (No. 80), East Carolina (No, 82), Troy (No. 89), Western Kentucky (No. 110) and San Jose State (No. 113). Delaware, coming off a season that saw them advance to the FCS National Championship Game, was not a part of the rankings.

The magazine picks Navy to go 7-5 on the year and play Boston College in the Northrop Grumman Military Bowl in Washington, DC.

After what I saw in Spring ball, I'll take a 7-5 year with a Bowl appearance.

My son and I attend one game a year and try to pick a different location. Although I've been to Rutgers I've never seen a football game there. When I get his schedule more definitive I may just let you know if this is a possibility.

Air Force-Navy football CBS telecast being discussed

"Air Force football could be getting a little more national network television exposure than it expected this season.

The possibility of moving Air Force’s game at Navy to CBS has been discussed, according to multiple sources who did not want to be named because the deal is not official. The date of the game would remain Oct. 1, but kickoff could be moved up a couple of hours for CBS. The game is scheduled for the cable network CBS College Sports. Sources stressed that no deal has been reached to televise the game on CBS.

Air Force will definitely be on national network television Oct. 8, when it plays at Notre Dame on NBC, and adding a second network appearance would benefit the program. An Air Force spokesman declined comment.

“As of today, the game is still at 3:30 p.m. (Eastern time) on CBS Sports Network,” Navy spokesman Scott Strasemeier said. "

This is interesting because Navy does NOT like to have 12:00 games...especially home games. The schedule of the brigade is such that early afternoon games makes it extremely difficult on them. Keep in mind all Midshipmen are required to attend all home games and the Army game. It's not an option for them no matter their schedule. The academy will now have to determine if they want more national, major network coverage or stay with the more functional scheduling for their students.

This could be a very public beat-down if it's moved to CBS. Air Force is going to be good this year. VERY GOOD.

CBS Sports Network is dedicating the 10 days surrounding Independence Day with an "ARMED FORCES SALUTE".

Starting Thursday, June 30 at 6:00 AM and continuing through Saturday, July 9, they will air Army, Navy and Air Force games from the past year, along with INSIDE ACADEMY FOOTBALL documentaries, which chronicle the daily routines of football players from the three service academies and explore how their sport intersects with their lives as officers-in-training for the United States military.

They will also show highlights from from Armed Forces football games, including special encore presentations of Army-Navy games from the past 15 years.


This would be a great reason to have our cable service connected in the summer!

This is now official, unfortunately. The Air Force vs. Navy game will be televised on CBS at noon on October 1st.

I-Day was yesterday at the Academy. Fifty two new football recruits were part of the class of 2015 that were indoctrinated including the following players from Ohio:
