Anyone been here for vacation? Me, the wife, and kids (ages 4,5) are thinking about going here for a week in July. My wife had some co-workers go there and say it is nice. Main reasons thinking about going is it is only 7 hr drive vs 10-12 to carolinas, not quite as hot as going south at this time, and still seems relatively cheap. We are going to Disney for a week in Oct, so not looking for something expesnive or extravagant here - just a nice relaxing week at the beach with some good dinners and other activities to do during the week.
Any input about here or other closer beach vacation spots would be helpful.
Thanks.
Tim

Town is clean, boardwalk has much to do, great restaurants, and Dogfish head brewery is there so a brew tour is a nice option.
Ocean City has become so trashy, that Rehoboth is getting clientele that they didn't get from D.C. years ago. (it has become quite gay friendly in recent years...keep this in mind)
Being a North Carolinian however, I am going to suggest you keep moving south to the OBX

I know nothing about this place, but the OP's name makes me want to run to the store and snag an Arnold Palmer. Yum.

When I lived out there this was a destination for the gay & lesbian folks...at least that's what it was know for. Last year we drove up the coast it was completely different. Very family like atmosphere and very well kept.

I was just trying to give arnie palmer a heads up. He said he had children, and wanted to let him know that depending on their age he may have to have a conversation about why those two men were kissing.
Not being a bigot, simply telling him of the culture and community at Rehoboth

I didn't see your post as bigoted. The community presented many gays when I lived out there in the early 90s.swamisez;794978 wrote:I was just trying to give arnie palmer a heads up. Medical experts agree that "teh gay" is a contagious disease. You don't want to catch a case of it, do you?

Went there with the family about 4/5 years ago...there's a reason why it's nicknamed ReHOMOboth Beach the place is a lightning rod for gays. Nice place, just a ton of gay pride stuff everywhere.

Have been there a couple of times...although in October.
Nice beach, some good resturants and a generally fun place to go.
Don't miss breakfast at The Starboard (although it is technically in Dewey Beach). Don't forget to have a Bloody Mary from the Bloddy Mary bar with your breakfast......yum!

Well the Arnie Palmer Family is still going to rehoboth beach next Tuesday thru Sunday and will try to stay away from the alternative lifestyle crowd.
Any more suggestions on especially good places to eat or things to do while there? I am sure we will spend some time at the Boardwalk and I have noted the Dogfish Hear Brewery and breakfast at the The Starboard suggestions.

The Starboard is an awesome bar, too bad you're not going single.

Depending on how old your kids are all the tourist things you'd want at the ocean is a short drive down the coast in Ocean City, Maryland.

Was just there last weekend. If your looking for good food and love seafood, Phillips is amazing! A little pricey but awesome. And if your not looking for a lot of people to be on the beach with you. Try a state beach. It's 8 dollars for out of state but it's worth it
