He definitely screwed up by not notifying dispatch. Sounds like a stern verbal reminder would be in order. Definitely should not have been fired. Unless there is a history of these types of screw ups.

I think the story ended in the correct punishment... It should be a learning experience, not a reason to fire a seasoned police officer who acted in response of shots fired and two cops down.

No, he means the punishment that was suggested by the last quoted in the article, that he be reprimanded only unless he had a history of failing to be where he said he was, etc.

This doesnt surprise me at all since i am working for both a univeristy and city PD.
