Prior to the one that went thru Holmes, a cell went right over me in neighboring Tuscarawas county. Grabbed my cats and put them in basement, and went outside to look. Nearly had one TD. I watched the cell move to my left, then suddenly, like a switch turned on, rotation started and a funnel formed over my head. A blast of wind nailed me and nearly knocked me on my ass. I hightailed it for the basement.

Sounds like Lake Buckhorn area had trees down, as did CR150. Don't think anything touched down anywhere, but I saw the nasty clouds form and told the wife this doesn't look good. Short time later the sirens were blaring.

The cell that rolled down through Tuscarawas, Carroll, Harrison counties last night was a beast, showed up on the radar as a textbook supercell. Winds in it briefly showed a damn good shot at a tornado too, so I would not be surprised to see a tornado confirmation in Tuscarawas County when it is all said and done.

It was also throwing down golf ball sized hail in SW Stark County before that.

I dunno of any confirmation, I just know what I saw, and I can't believe it didn't touch down right on my head! (glad it didn't, of course!!!)

NWS Pittsburgh has not issued any statements today, either there was nothing to see or they didn't send a team out today (most likely nothing to see, must have not gone past simply rotating, or funnel cloud at worst). All of the ingredients were definitely there though.

Don't care what the weather service says. I was here, and they weren't. They can sit in their office all comfy and tell me I'm full of shit, but I was on the front lines. Screw 'em. Does anyone really believe a weatherman, especially in Ohio??!!

You got defensive for no reason here, the NWS didn't say anything that contradicted you at all.

They knew the storm was rotating, as you saw, that's why they issued the goddamn tornado warning! But, that rotation never reached the ground (even you said you saw it above you, not on the ground) and since there were no damage reports submitted across any of the counties other than golf ball sized hail and some downed trees, it seems pretty obvious. So, they agree with everything that you witnessed.

And trust me, more often than not the general public is full of shit (no fault of their own, its easy to mix up some low hangers for funnels and whatnot). That's why they train spotters. However, your report basically matches what else was issued and reported perfectly.

Just had some pretty high winds and small hail here in Ironton. Knocked over a tree across the street from our house.
