Why do Blacks what to be called Black?
To be graphically correct they are more Sepia tone in color.

Bi-racial always turns out to be identified as Black why? That’s not graphically correct many are more Wheat in color tone and not Black at all.
Many Bi-racial individuals are more “white in color” than many “whites” which is also not graphically correct “whites” are more Fawn tone.

Indians are not red, Chinese are not yellow and Mexican do smell but not like curry..…Sorry did just type that ………

So the next time here on the OC you want to identify someone by Color verification lets start with the correct usage of the color wheel…. Hell! We all had a set of 101 crayons.

Why make it more difficult than it really is, there are only 2 classifications when it comes to identifying people.

1. Whites
2. them other people

There are too many holes and errors in this post to even discuss, but if you are going to kid about stereotypes, Indian people tend to enjoy curry in their cooking, not Mexicans

Parents of bi-racial children choose to have their kid's birth certificates marked as "black" (or African American or whatever it is) at birth because it usually leads to more benefits in this country. Scholarship-wise and whatnot.

Color blindness is a worldwide condition. It doesn't only occur in America.

This. I was at an Indian wedding last December. They had one hell of a spread. Most of the food there wasn't particularly appealing to look at, but if you like spicy stuff that is surprisingly filling, it was the bomb.

Well no shit Mexicans don't smell like curry. That's an Indian food.

From a historical perspective, the word black became common after the civil rights movement. Up to that time blacks were called negroes (spanish/portuguese for black). Malcolm X was the catalyst for ending the term, as he argued it sounded to much like the word used in the american south. Blacks then began calling themselves "blacks" or "afro-american", which later became "african-american". Another term used to described blacks was colored. I have even spoken to older blacks who call one another colored (less and less common today but I have known some about 10-20 years ago who used to do it all the time). I think again the word fell out of grace because colored was associated with a different era (ie. the jim crow days when there were colored/white drinking fountains, restrooms, etc.).
