Certainly deserved a batter fate. Not the way he should have gone out. I wish him nothing but the best.

As I said on aother thread, Tressel has done SO MUCH more for OSU and people that many will ever know. I truly believe he is a good human being with good intentions. He brought back OSU tradition like it hadn't had for a long while. I believe he really loved OSU big time. But the pressures of winning and big time college football got to him in the end. And its really a sad ending to what would have been a hall of fame career. And, its really sad when u think it was over stupid freaking tattoos! Wow.

"So months after his employer revealed the lies that shattered a reputation that didn't quite fit the facts, Tressel proved just how much he loves Ohio State. Monday, Tressel made the ultimate declaration of loyalty to the school he served so well by making all of Ohio State's problems his own."

JT did far more good than bad while at OSU, and he should be remembered for that.

Sadly, when you make a mistake like this, it sullies a lot of the good things you've accomplished. It will be hard to filter out all the garbage that will be said about Tressel in the coming weeks to remember the good that he did.

Let's wait and see what the NCAA does before bestowing sainthood on Tressel.

Although his coaching style drives me crazy, it works. Love his personality and his skills. Sucks he had to go out this way.

If OSU suffers major sanctions because of something Tressel did then his reputation is forever tarnished and Tressel will be looked at as a fraud.

I dont like it when people use the word "if" in their argument. We have no idea what the NCAA is going to do, lets worry about that IF/or when it happens

How about this.

Jim Tressel has severely damaged the reputation of The Ohio State University. No "IFS","ANDS", or "BUTS".

I don't think so--he may have damaged his reputation (not with me), but The OSU is much bigger than Jim Tressel--period.

Unfortunately, Jim Tressel will be forever linked to lying and forever linked to The Ohio State University.

Always loved Tress and he is a good man. But he really screwed us majorly. I'm curious to see what comes out of that SI article. My opinion could change

Long-term more good will be remembered than bad in regards to Tressel. People wil remember that first national title in 34 years, the dominance in the Big Ten, and the dominance over Michigan. People will say it is sad he messed up and had to go out the way he did, but I believe the good will far outweigh his flaws.

I agree 100%. He also greatly impacted many, many more student athletes lives in a positive way than the few that did have character flaws that Tress tried covering up. His contributions in these ways were just as important as wins and losses.

Woody Hayes's career ended in disgrace. How is he thought of now?

Great coach? DEFINITELY.

Great man? Eh, not sure about that.

He sure as hell isn't a horrible human being but his character is without a doubt questionable after all of this.

On the sideline......few were better.

It may be questionable to those who don't have first hand accounts of the man, but I could post a lot more stuff like this that are first hand accounts than vice versa...guaranteed.
