This is the reason why all those wins in April and May are important and do mean something. We knew they were going to skid and come back to Earth a bit. Now we have a lead in the division that we can lean on while we make some adjustments. We need to find a right-handed outfielder to replace Kearns and we need to bring up Cord Phelps to spell OC at 2nd base. I'm not ready to press the panic button yet but I will be very interested to see what moves the front office/manager makes to stop the slide.

What is wrong with OC at 2nd base? Is he not getting any days off?

He's played all but 2 games, had an OPS of .560 in May and played very below average defense. Not saying get rid of him but he shouldn't be starting every day. Phelps could spell him and I'm pretty sure he can play some outfield too.

EDIT: Sorry no outfield I was thinking that he could. Still want him up here.

After Toronto we play Texas and Minny..

Then on the road to play NYY and Detroit.

If the Tribe doesn't pick it up, this division lead could be turned into a defecit real quick.

Cord Phelps needs to be called up like yesterday. Play him at third...play him at second...don't care...just play him. 310 batting average, 7 homers and less errors than Astrubal should get him his opprtunity up here. Also....White was a huge blow....time to bring up McCallister, who is 7-0 with a 2.34 ERA.

Columbus is 35 and 16. WITF do the Indians put up with the play of Kearns, OCab and Hannihan? Get rid of the rubbish and bring the kids up. And Dolan should be happy with a shrinking payroll.

The schedule is brutal all the way through until the All Star break.

No production from their 3rd baseman, the catcher or the left fielder will kill our team....and Sizemore's 244 average better improve.

I was exaggerating, but there is some truth to it. If they didn't play in the AL East, they would have some playoff appearances recently.

2010- Finished 85-77. Would have done no worse than 3rd in any other division. Some they would have been just a couple games away from winning. They finished 4th in AL East.

2008- Finished 86-76. Again, no worse than 3rd in any division. They would have outright won the NL West and would have been 2 games back in the Central. Had they played in the Central they would have won it. They finished 4th in East, again.

2006- 87-75. Would have won the NL Central and West and contended in most other division race and none of these include the record boost they would have gotten from getting out of that division.

We'll learn a lot about this team this week...whether they are contenders or pretenders. If they ARE contenders, they will limit the losing streaks, and keep getting a few wins during this rough stretch of adversity. Playing .500 will be great....and that's where the veteran leadership comes in. Let's try not to panic, just yet.

But Tampa Bay and Baltimore were 2 of the 5 worst teams in baseball that year, so it sort of evens out. They've been a pretty good team for a long time, but I don't think they'd be making more than 1 playoff appearance every 5 years or so in any division with the rosters they've had.

Buck and Sizemore back in the line up tonight. We need the offense to get back on track and a quality start from Talbot.

With the way the Tribe have been hitting coupled with Morrows over 10 strikeouts per 9...expecting a lot of Tribe Ks tonight.
