If so, where did you get them and how was the quality? I want to update our kitchen as cheaply as possible. We've currently got cheap particle board cabinets and I want to upgrade to plywood boxes with a darker finish. I don't mind going the RTA route, either.

Too bad you're not up this way. There's a place that manufactures cabinets that has sales on Saturday mornings at their factor outlet and if you get there early enough they put out their "scratch & dent" stuff on sale. Stuff isn't really "scratch & dented." Dude I worked with got a full set of kitchen cabinets for $500.

It was Kraftmaid out in Lordstown, Ohio. It's now known as Masco. Not sure if they are still there.

Got any amish cabinet makers down there? They can be more than reasonable as long as you go straight to the maker.

Mantooth might be able to hook him up with the Amish. He's pretty tight with them.

Paranzino auctions always has great deals on anything for the house. I completely redone my kitchen with stuff i bought there for 1800. new cabinets flooring window sink faucet door. I checked on prices before and it wouldve cost me closer to 7k for the stuff i wanted so it was a huge savings for me. here is a link to them http://www.pbauctions.com/

I get all of my cabinets here. http://snowswoodshop.com/

Probably more than what you want to spend and the showroom is 3.5 hours from Cincy. I do find it kinda of odd that you only buy top of the line electronics, but when presented with a chance to add real value to your home, you want to do it as cheaply as possible. Is this not a long-term home?

Well, I don't buy top of the line electronics. I just don't buy cheap electronics. And, it is possible to put too much money into your house. If I put a ton of money into my kitchen I'd price myself out if the area.

I also didn't mean as cheap as possible as in I want to do it for less than a grand or something If that were the case I'd just keep the crap cabinets we already have. They are in fine shape, we just don't like the style/layout of the kitchen.

This was a design we had done about 2 years ago when first looked into getting new cabinets. The quote was about $8000 for cabinets and granite but didn't include taxes and shipping on the cabinets. I'm not sure what the final price would've been.

Our kitchen in it's current state is pretty pathetic. We only have two wall cabinets because of unfortunately located/sized windows. There is no cabinet/counter to the left of our stove/microwave. They are both up against the wall. There is a window to the right of the microwave taking up valuable wall space for more cabinets, which is why we had them remove it in that design. The design also shrinks the size of the window above the sink quite a bit.

But yeah, as you can see, the kitchen isn't really a great place to add value to the house anyway due to its size/layout.

How about sites or places to get discounted wood floors? We arent against a laminate but my wife is picky about the look. Real wood is just out of our price range if we get it at Lowes or HD.

We are moving into a house that has bad lenoleum (sp)

Have you tried Lumber Liquidators?

Our kitchen and the hallway into it had crap laminate floors when we moved in. When we had our hardwood floors refinished we had them tie into the old floor and extend the hardwood throughout the kitchen. It's amazing how much better they are.

Wife looked at it online. Still seems pricey when compared to laminates...but you get what you pay for I guess. May just have to pony up.

Can you buy online during the auction or do you have to be there? They have some very nice things and quite a lot of it, but the next auction is Thursday which I cant make in Xenia or I would be there for sure.
