It was only about 15 years ago that all we had in Ohio was 216 (NE), 614 (SE), 419 (NW), and 513 (SW)

I have to change mine every 3 months it seems because I get psycho bitches who don't understand that just because we have sex, doesn't mean we're in a relationship.

I'm on my third. I had my first one for 6-ish years, but once we moved here for good, we needed to change the area code. I then had my second number for a year or two, but I had a lot of problems with it--some drug dealer named Johnny had it before me, so I KEPT getting calls. And then it started receiving telemarketing calls. And then I started getting calls from people who swore that I just called them, even though I didn't (is that even possible?). Freaked me out, so I changed to my new number back in February.

Spoofing your number. You didn't actually call them, and the call would not show up on any billing statement, but their caller ID could indeed say your number.

Same can be done with email, actually.

I got my first cell phone when I turned 18, I'm now 25, so almost 8 years. I don't plan on ever changing it. If I ever move out of this area code I'll just get a local forwarding number if I have to.

Portability should enable you to transfer that land line phone number to any new device you choose so long as you are the registered account owner on the new line.

Am I not understanding that correctly?

I've had the same home number since 1990 when I move back to Ohio.

Why would you get a local forwarding number?

Got my number when I got my first cell at 18. I'll be 27 this summer...so about 9 years.

Now with Google Voice, I won't ever have to change it. I have a 513 number that I give out to people around here, and it rings through to my 330 phone.
