Enjoy it, Lane Violation. The Trojans football team will be allowed to sign no more than 15 players to scholarships for the next three seasons (against a top limit of 25 for schools not under sanction).

Sad. USC, at its peak, was unstoppable.
And they never negligently killed anyone.

What does this mean to their signed recruiting class?

Nothing. Lane found loopholes that allowed him to sign 30 recruits. Since the scholarship restrictions were being appealed when Signing Day rolled around, SC was able to sign more than the imposed 15 max. I think he was able to sign more than 25 because 5 of them were early enrollees that don't count against the years numbers.Tobias Fünke;780737 wrote:What does this mean to their signed recruiting class?
Since there is a post season ban for this coming season, all seniors are able to transfer to any program they want and will be eligible to play immediately, I believe.

Lots of playing time and fewer underclassmen challenging them for their starting spot the next few years. Also means NO depth on Lane's roster.

I heard USC only has enough room to sign nine recruits this year. Fuckin' nice.

Can't say I'm surprised. The NCAA dished out the ruling so I can't see them overturning it. One would assume OSU's won't be as harsh given that they did not receive LOIC in their charges.

Given how blatantly USC stalled the NCAA -- this is a fitting end.
People forget that unlike USC, Ohio State has invited the NCAA to Columbus to try and put this matter to bed as quickly as possible.
USC showed nothing but arrogance and hubris for years while all the allegations were flying, and even to a degree after the NCAA started actively investigating.
I do find it interesting that the media has all but ignored this story as it continues to pound Tressel and Ohio State, much like they almost universally ignored the allegations for years while they (mostly ESPN) were busy slobbering all over Cheaty McPetey's knob.

Why should ESPN spend more time on the NCAA denying the appeal, which everyone outside of Troy knew was going to happen, when there is a relatively newer and bigger story out now?

Oh I don't know -- perhaps because it was/is one of the premiere programs in the country and was everyone's favorite team/coach for about 5 years or so. Then again, they all basically ignored the story as it was unfolding, so why bother to cover it now. SMH
