Do you really have to break the bank on a pitcher? I mean the season is young, but look at our staff right now. We have 3 pitchers I would throw out on any given night against a top pitcher.

Cliff Lee, Tim Lincecum, Adam Wainwright, Chris Carpenter just to name a few.....

But like I said earlier...you go back to our great teams of the 90's and we didn't have that #1 guy....we had a bunch of 2 and 3 guys but it just worked and I see our staff this year the same way.

Davies throws 0.1 innings due to injury, but that was enough to have a run be his problem and pick up the loss lol

Lincecum yes. Wainwright, maybe. Lee and Carp, no.

Im not saying we have to right now. But the question is, if not for CC than for who? Not many guys that are better and more worth it. I would also break the bank for pitching before hitting, which is what i was getting at.

Lincecum and Doc are the only two pitchers I'd break the bank for, honestly..

A lot of my disdain for CC comes mainly from that 2007 postseason. There were also times during the regular season where it seemed like he needed to stop a skid for us (similar to the other night against Boston) but he would just get bombed.

If he goes out and pitches up to his full potential in '07, we have a WS championship here in Cleveland.

But enough about CC. We have a pretty good thing going right now and just won 19-1, with Brantley and LaPorta starting to really blossom for us...

I agree with that. I think a lot of us Tribe fans got really complacent with how great he was most of the time, and then when he sucked, we really took it out on him. It may be deserved, but Yankee fans LOVE the guy, and thats hard to do. I dunno, his numbers are damn impressive, and in the end thats all I look at. But he HAS sucked in the postseason, but thats for a different thread I suppose (and ultimately maybe why he isnt worth the money)

I just don't think the Indians Organization's philosophy is to go out and buy the best pitcher....they want to coach up young kids to become good starters and we are seeing that now. I don;t think we will ever break the bank for a #1 guy because the philosophy the Indians uses doesn't call for it....we were just blessed in 2007 to have Lee and CC on the same staff but we all knew they were leaving.

Well, sadly, Lee wasn't Lee in '07 or it may have not mattered what CC did...

White Sox lose 4-0 to Texas, Minny down 2-0 to Seattle..

Tribe may pick a game up on everybody in the Central. Doesn't get any better than that :)

Lee wasnt even with us. If anything, we should be pissed at him for blowing a dick and being at AAA. With him pitching like he has every other year he has been in the bigs, we WALK through the playoffs.

But for the record, I am not talking about the CC trade in regards to the Indians organization. Simply from the players exchanged and the numbers each have. Obviously it was a solid trade since the tribe werent signing CC anyway.

^No, but he was still on the staff and we knew we had to trade him before he left and we got nothing for him.

I think that has happened like 3 or 4 times already this year. That is pretty remarkable.

Well, Tomlin moves to 5-1 with a 2.56 Era....not bad at all

Masterson is 5-1 with a 2.73 Era....

I'm happy with that considering Masterson is making $468,000 this year and Tomlin making $417,000

These are more important than ERA. And these are both INCREDIBLE.

thank god we avoided Pineda. Not saying we cant beat him, but it was nice to not face him. Kid has some serious stuff. Nasty offspeed and a 97 MPH heater. 3 hitting the Twins with 7 Ks through 7 right now.

Of course, we will now have to face him in the 5 game set later...but maybe he will hit the rookie wall by then!
