Jagr is 39 and has played in Russia the past three years. It sounds like he might be looking to return to the NHL next season and the Penguins seem like a strong possibility.

A few days ago, it was reported the Penguins general manager Ray Shero was going to extend him an invitation to a summer golf tournament/reunion in celebration of the 1991 Stanley Cup win. But you would have to think there is some interest in bringing him back as a player for at least a one-year contract.

He's not the player he once was, obviously, but he still can play. He had a hat trick Wednesday at the world championships where the Czech Republic defeated the USA, 4-0.

They are just reaching out to mend the relationship so he will come to a golf outing and eventually have number retired

What kind of shape is he in? As in for handling the grind of a season, as opposed to being good over the short term, like for the World Championships. I mean, it'd be cool for him to come back to retire a Pen, but I'm not going to overly care unless he's looking to come back and be a legit contributer.

I don't see it happening. It's good that he's trying to mend fences with Pittsburgh (the fans more than anything) but I can't see him returning to play.
