WRAL saying Duke has eliminated Daniels from consideration at Duke

meanwhile some outlet called Summerhoop Scoop is saying Daniels withdrew interest.

WRAL reported Duke backed off due to "frustration with admissions process of Daniels" . I don't know his eligibility status, but if it was significant for the admissions office to put a hold on him, it had to be somewhat worrisome.

I didn't read it that way. It sounds like his camp wanted a guarantee of admissions now, and Duke couldn't give that. They moved on. It says that he either has problems or that Duke really wasn't worth the effort of waiting an extra long time to find out. It could be the former, but my guess is the latter. He hasn't had any history of academic trouble and qualifying, at least that I've heard, isn't an issue.

I don't know what to make of the spin on it. It makes no sense at all. Unless I was in the situation I wouldn't know what was happening. Hopefully the details surface soon.

Has he planned an announcement date yet? I know Lacey's is next week.

Daniels announcing tomorrow

Damn...Rivals reporting Lacey will choose Alabama over KU, UK today.

Also said Daniels may not commit today because he still can't decide. For fucks sake, today sucks.

Alabama is on the verge of being a top 10 team. Their weakness was shooting, and adding Lacey to a very good class and getting Shawn Kemp Jr. eligible makes Anthony Grant's squad a very possible national contender.

Apparently, he will decide after Selection Sunday next year...his final list of schools will probably be totally different than those he lists now.

Word on WRAL is that Daniels hasn't signed because he is waiting till the fall until Duke Admissions can fully enroll him. He can't sign an LOI because the class is full apparently, and in order for him to officially sign, he will have to wait until Fall Term and enrollment numbers are solidified and the vacated spots are claimed.

Apparently he won't sign to go to a school until the fall, be it Duke or Kansas.

He would essentially be wait listed then after frosh enrollment figures are determined after orientation he would be added to the class. Duke admitted 1700 first time students. The class was full per admissions. This was the hang up theynhad initially. It wasn't academic qualifier it was the late addition to the class of 2015

I freaking hope so, this needs to end already.

Since he is signing this weekend, we can assume it will be Kansas. We will continue to do so as long as he intends to sign before the beginning of summer fall term.

DeAndre Daniels has committed to Connecticut.

I have to say, this recruitment has been comical to say the least. With that said, if he actually makes it to Connecticut, it puts them as a definite preseason top 5 team.

Andy Katz tweeted something about Calhoun recruiting him. Funny because no one mentioned uconn through this whole process.

You might be getting Arkansas' leading scorer from last season for next year(12-13). Rotnei Clarke. Fair trade? Daniels might be a one and done. I think what helped UConn get Daniels was that Calhoun promised to be there to coach him next year. Those were Daniels words. As a fan of the Huskies, I am excited for this pick up!

Also S&L, I was reading the online morning newspaper that The Sporting News provides(would provide a link, but its an Adobe Flash file. Great read, check it out if you haven't already) and they said that Steve Fisher is pissed at Bill Self because he was "poaching an Aztec recruit" (TSN's words not Fisher's) and went after Kevin Young(JC transfer by way of Loyola Marymount) after he already had a financial aid agreement with and committed to SDSU. Self says Young de-committed and then KU recruited him.

Corruption I tell you!!

A) the corruption comment was tongue in cheek and simply a joke..I don't actually think uconn cheated to get DD.

B) I'm not familiar with the sdsu recruit now ku recruit, I haven't had access to a computer in a few weeks so I've been out of it. Tomorrow at work ill take a look at the situation om my lunch break.

C) was he a juco transfer? If so, bill self said if they fail to land DD, they would look the juco route to fill a roster spot so it wouldn't surprise me if the kid simply wanted to play at Kansas the whole time and just now got the offer...ill look more into it
