Reds efficient on offense with 4 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks - only 4 baserunners in the game against righty curveballer Vazquez. Unfortunately Wood gave up 7 runs on 91 pitches in 3.1 innings, with 5 runs by the Marlins in again, the first inning.

Reds lefty hitters, Bruce, Votto, and Hermida, have both hits and both walks and all 4 RBIs.

Votto makes a bad mistake leading off the 6th with the Reds down 7-4, by going for a double, and getting thrown out by a comfortable distance at 2B by the CF.

Reds starting pitchers have been nothing short of amazing so far. Hope they keep it up all year.

Didnt see the play so I cannot comment. Did the OF make a very good play on the ball of teh wall or in the corner?

There are times when ya can be very aggressive to try and stretch a single into a double.....like with two outs and such...but if ya get thrown out by a big margin, or as marty says, 'from here to there' then that leads me to believe it was a mental mistake to try it. Aggressive one.....yeah...but there is smart and dumb aggressive.

Reds pitchers are enough to drive you crazy. Wood hasnt been very good this season. What was supposed to be a strength, has turned out to be a liability

The 3 run HR Wood gave up in the first put them down 4-0 and didn't hurt as bad as the 2 out hit by the pitcher that made it 5-0, and then the sharp grounder up the middle that bounced off Phillips that made it 7-1. The disappointing thing to me was that the Reds never had an AB, until one out in the 9th, when the deficit was other than 3-6 runs. Never was the batter even the tying run until the 9th. They should have been concentrating on getting runners on, and it didn't seem like they were. Why do you need all the big swings? Why do you need a solo HR? Bruce gets worn out trying to pull pitches away. He was terrible in the last AB Tuesday, then he comes back Wed and gets 3 hits on the four he put in play, all to the left of 2B. Then in the last AB last night with the tying run on 2B, if he would plink it out to LF with Stubbs on 2nd, it's tied, but he doesn't try LF enough. And he has an outside one to do that and he takes it for the last pitch of the game. Janish did good hitting two sharp lines drives and a grounder that were all picked of by infielders, so he had nothing to show for it until the 9th when he and Hernandez got on. Heisey was up as the tying run with one out and had a ten pitch AB and made an out, but the 4th pitch was a hanging slider in the middle of the zone that he should have done something with to advance the Reds cause.

Telecast the other day stated they led the league in % of runs that come by HR.

Not a great sign I dont think. KInda reminds ya of the Dunn/Whiffey days but this team DOES have much better players all around that should be able to manufacture runs better than those old red teams. It is like the 3 ball in hoops....live and die by it.......

Reds have speed to be able to do more than wait for the HR.
