Brandon Phillips out again. Looks like Juan Francisco headed to the FL. Looks like Fred Lewis may never play a game in Cincinnati. Wonder if he gets released. Volquez with a chance to make it a split series at worse.

I heard Francisco is fine, just had some bad cramps. Hopefully we get a chance to see Lewis as a Red. I know he was supposed to be back late-April but I don't know if that is still holding true or not.

At some point, Volquez's first inning heroics just become comical.

Nothing like being in a 4 run hole after the top half of the first.

I want to stab Volquez in the dick at the end of the 1st inning every time he takes the mound.

One of my friends and HS teammates was the same way. The first inning was dreadful almost every outing, but then he'd be outstanding for the rest of the game. I know with him it was usually because he wasn't taking his pregame warm-ups very seriously (stretching, long tossing, throwing in the pen). Seeing as how EV is a professional, I doubt that's the case but you never know.

If Volquez is going to struggle in the first, I wish he'd at least have the decency to limit things to 3 runs and under. I'm sick of this being in a 4 run hole crap.

I say just put a bullpen guy out there for inning #1 lol.

Make him throw a simulated inning in the pen during warmup or something. Crazy how bad he is in the first inning, then how good he is the rest of the way.

Looked like Cairo gave it all he had on that swing for a HR. That may be a case of trying for a HR.

If Votto would have gotten thrown out at home on Rolen's double it would have been becasue he was watching the ball that was in front of him too long and messed up his steps a little bit when it came time to look for 3rd base - about a step slower that if he would have been concentrating only on running. New game 4-4.

Heard Cairo ran the bases with a walker and it had a built in oxygen tank for the old man.

That was from a text I got from a friend back home. Made me laugh.

Good lead taking RBI single by Bruce. One ground ball hit on both sides of the 2nd baseman today.

If EV puts up a zero in the 6th, he'll be "off the hook" for the loss, and in line for another win, unless he does it on about 7 pitches and Dusty puts him out for the 7th, in spite of him being up 2nd in the bottom of the 6th.

That walk instead of an out by the #8 batter is very bad for the Reds. Means that they don't get to hit again against McCutchen, and have to make a double switch.

Dusty has turned over a new leaf. This season he is not making sure to keep a catcher in reserve in case of an emergency. I wonder who the emergency catcher is for the Reds.

Not to mention it could result in EV being back "on the hook" for the loss, which it has , at least for the time being!

Reds blow a golden opportunity w/ bases loaded and 1 out... Votto strikesout & Rolen grounds out to the 2nd basemen
