I hear Div 2 Olentangy will move back up to D1 next year if so I think they will be one of the top teams they have alot coming back.

I don't think you can include Olentangy Liberty in the mix yet. They had a lot of seniors on the team. They have some good wrestlers returning so they will be solid and Mark does a great job of preparing them but I don't know if they are in the top five in central OH yet.

I think some confuse olentangy liberty (patriots) with olentangy Lewis Center (braves). Liberty did indeed lose most of their team through graduation while Olentangy only lost 3 to graduation. When they meet during the season, the Olentangy Braves soundly won the dual. As stated earlier, Olentangy Braves were division II and are on the bubble to move back to Division I. In my view, the following are probably the top 3 teams for next year:

1) Olentangy Braves - Regardless if division I or II. Lose three good seniors (all state qualifers, two state placers), but return numerous starters many of which will be seniors (including 13 district qualifers, 5 state qualifers, and 2 state placers). I recognize that the qualifications were at the division II level, but frankly by the time you get to state, there isn't that much difference between I and II. This is there big season this year because they will lose most of the team to graduation in the following year.

2) Marysville Monarchs - Dualed Olentangy to within 6 points last year and I think only lost one senior. Good solid team from beginning to end. Lots of great sophmores and juniors many of which have district or state experiences. The dual between these two will in my mind determine the best team in Central Ohio and the Champions of their conference. Should be a great night. I think it is at Olentangy this year so they have home court, but Marysville beat them there the year before. If they don't beat Olentangy this year, Marysville should dominate in the following year.

3) Hillard Davidson - Again good solid team from front to back of the lineup. I don't think they have quite the stallions of either Olentangy or Marysville. May be year off still. I could see a couple of other schools edging out Hillard Davidson for the third slot.

Excellent breakdown on the top three teams, your right the Olentangy vs Marysville match will be worth the price of admission. Be a ton of talent on the mat that night, and will probally go down to the last match again as it did last year. Tribute to both programs, I hope Olentangy moves to D1 next year, it would de

Don't go to sleep on Lancaster. Should be a solid dual team. They lose only 2 starters (Davis and Kehrens) from their line up and have two OAC junior high state placers in Miller and Norris moving up to fill holes. 6 returning DQs. They also just finished behind Coffman for the second spot in the state duals. Should be a respectable tournament team, but they will be a better dual meet team. I agree with the teams listed, but Lancaster will at least be in the running to defend their co championship in the OCC Ohio.

I don't think anyone is confusing Liberty for any other team. Yes, they are graduating the schools 1st state placer, 4 other state qualifiers, and several other quality kids. They certainly won't be the dual team they were this past season, but dwelling on what they won't return, shouldn't keep what they do return from being given their due.

Returning are two state qualifiers in Ryan and Fleming. Both still developing wrestlers with Huge up sides. That alone is more than most teams, but Liberty also returns district qualifier, Penzone and district alternate Cubberly. Again, that may not be the core of a great dual team, but it should be enough to be a force at most tournaments, including any central sectional.

Factor in a bunch of kid who have paid their dues behind those graduating seniors, the best coaching staff in central ohio, and the conquest wrestling club with tommy rowlands and that off season schedule, and the Patriots should be given some consideration in any projection of central ohio's best teams.

(I wouldn't over look Gahanna either, as they have some big point scorers returning)

Liberty will still be strong regardless of all the seniors leaving with Fleming, Ryan, Penzone, Cubberly, and there summer wrestling will produce others. Their 103 was also good this year in snyder.
I think a team we are overlooking is Central Crossing. They have Pickett who will be in contention for a state title, along with hauber, householder, and a tough 103 who will finally be normal sized for a 103 pounder next year in Wimer.
Davidson will be good but definitely not as strong as previous years now that DiSabato, Gill, Hoffman, and there 215 knoch are all leaving.
Coffman has a good core of juniors coming back with Murdock, Mullucey, and state alternate Mccourt. They also have district qualifiers returning in Schulze and cline, and a few others like alexander who was ineligible for the end of the year.
Marysville looks the strongest above coffman with forrider, sparks, both millers, and boyd coming back. They are the clear favorite as of now.
Lancaster will be good with Spearman, Strope, Barnhart, and Funk returning. They will be a tough dual team

Central Ohio is looking good:)

What is Olentangy's line up looking like for next year? I would assume the Pollitt boy fills in for Caserta, but do they have replacements for departing Hettersheet or Gadd? I have heard they have a nice looking group of frosh on the way in. Will they get the boy that moved to Indiana back?

Anthony McHugh. Heard he was at a prep/military? school in Indiana. Not sure if he is coming back.
If he does, he will be in the running for All State assuming he has still been wrestling. He is that good.

River who? Shucks, pretty sure they just got some simple county boys that those highly touted programs on the north side of 270 wouldn't pay no mind to.

It would be a tough lineup for a freshman to crack. The lineup is filled with experienced and successful upper classmen. Many won or placed in large invitationals and tournaments in the northeast and southwest part of the state. Class rank is for next year. It is way early, but here is a guess at the potential lineup -

103 - Andrew Torti (Jr. 5th District)
112 - Open (best chance for a freshman to crack the lineup)
119 - Travis Massey (Jr. - wrestled 112 part of this season, winning record)
125 - Trevor Firouci (Sr. 5th at state)
130 - Ryan Lucas (Sr. District Qualifer)
135 - Cody Pollit (Soph- winning season, but didn't compete post season when Caserta moved down)
140 - Fosco (Sr. 6th at state)
145 - Kyle Massey (Sr. injured at beginning of season)
150 - Ryan Dean (Sr. - District Qualifier at 172!)
160- Ryan Brady (Sr. - wrestled 145/150 most of the year, 5th at sectional)
172 - Open (Several options here, but lack of experience is a concern, this was Joey Gadd's weight)
189 - Brandon Shepard (Jr. 2-year varsity letterwinner, 1st at Freshman state at Dublin last year)
215 - Alex Stinemetz (Sr. State Qaulifier)
Hwt - Brian Young (Sr. State Qaulifier, just finished 4th at Tournament of Champions)

Looks like a great line-up. I'd even bet we'll be seeing those names in the central district coaches rankings.
