Is it possible to downgrade from Sidney Lowe?

Another school striking out with coaches. First Missouri hiring Haith and now N.C. State hiring Gottfried. Heck, Tennessee's hire of Cuonzo Martin actually looks decent. Oklahoma getting Lon Kruger looks GREAT in-comparison.

There's a reason why NC State is a second-rate basketball program...

The Wolfpack faithful were sweating this one out. They contacted a boat load of coaches and they all said they were not interested in the job. Gottfriend was probably not even one of their top 10 choices in the beginning. There was an email that went around the other day from their AD were she admitted to their fans they were having a tough time finding someone who wanted the job. Here is a link from their Scout Board which outlines the utter dispair from the folks over there.

Gottfried is a decent hire IMO. It's absolutely an upgrade from Lowe. Wouldn't be my first choice, but he could get them back to the Herb Sendek level of winning 18-20 a year and challenging for the NCAA.

Herb went to the tournament six? years in a row with State. Now they haven't been since 2007

State is a great job, rabid fans, nba arena, raleigh nc. Why not.......oh wait K and Roy less than 20 mins down the road.

Good luck Gottfried. Basketball is much better in the triangle when State is viable. I hope he wins.
