Ugh...I hate this fad.

And that field looks ugly.

The red field is still the worst. The NCAA needs to crack down on this.

But then how would they justify BSU being "grandfathered" or some bull shit to where they can keep the smurf turf?

The grandfathering thing is false. There is still no rule in place regarding it. The NFL just put in a rule regarding it a couple weeks ago, but the NCAA has not bothered with it (because honestly, who gives a shit?)

I believe the only rule is that yard lines must be white.

I never knew that because you always hear how there's a rule in place, but Boise was exempt from it because they had the turf installed before the rule was in place.

You're right though, it looks dumb, but I don't really care.

There's a high school up here on Lake Erie planning on a purple turf field.

The color feature is an appx $85K adder on an already $1.2M tab for a typical college turf installation. Spend it however you want.

Yep. It's short for "on the shore" of Lake Erie or "on the lake's shore".

I'm cool with them getting grandfathered in. as long as when they replace the field (even if it's 75 years from now, i'm not sure how long that fake turf lasts) it has to go back to green.

who cares what color it is, i think people should be more concerned with the amount of sponsors pushed in faces during sporting events

Central Arkansas will need to have a 6 foot area on the sideline between the 25s.

Otherwise no NCAA color rule.

I am a 'less is more' type of guy. Gimmit a basic field and I am cool with it. I really hate how NCAA hoops courts seem to becoming advertising venues and filled with artwork. some of those darn logos in the middle run from three point line to three point line.

Yes..the NFL put a rule in place about their fields and the article I read referenced fields like boise.

That and no 5-yard increment lines (see Tiger Stadium, LSU). I believe LSU was grandfathered into that

I ran a track meet there back in the day. Same place Scottie Pippen put on the map. I'd take the old grass any day but to each his own.
