Welp with the season over(sorry FF teams), we might as well talk about the kids that are leaving early...

Isiah Thomas - Washington
Jordan Williams - Maryland(no agent)
Tyler Honeycutt (soph) - UCLA
Malcom Lee - UCLA(no agent)
Kemba Walker - UConn

And possibly the big, big kid from UCLA also, Joshua Smith. But supposedly his father says he's coming back.

I pulled these from the "rumors" section on ESPN's college bball page.

From what the ESPN thing said, Morris is just asking for opinions or whatever they call it.

Is Walker really leaving "early?"

I know he is only a junior, but hasn't he already graduated? Or will this spring/summer?

Yes, because he still has a year of eligibility left.

Time to bring this back up. Players have until April 24th to declare, and sometime in May to decide to stay in or withdraw. Clearly hiring an agent nullifies that second deadline.

Trey Thompkins of Georgia is leaving and will hire an agent.
Travis Leslie of Georgia is leaving and will NOT hire an agent.
Josh Selby of Kansas is leaving and will hire an agent.

May 8th is the NCAA deadline for those who don't hire an agent. They must decide to come back, or leave by this deadline or they become ineligible for next year. But wasn't there a couple players who found loopholes in this recently?

BTW, I think Selby has BUST written all over him. He never impressed me at all this year. He should have come back.

I believe either Morris or Patterson done that @ UK, though it wasn't easy I don't believe.

Dee Bost declared, did not withdraw by the deadline and petitioned the NCAA to re-instate his eligibility. He was forced to sit out some games but showed proof that his intent was to withdraw, not hire an agent and remain an amateur. Personally, I think it's a crock, but they ruled in his favor and he played.

Randolph Morris declared, stayed in the draft and went undrafted. He then petitioned to return because he hadn't signed with an agent. He was able to pay back his workout/travel expenses paid for by NBA teams and regain his eligibility after serving a suspension. After that, and a few other attempts, the NCAA nixed that rule allowing undrafted (and unrepresented) players from regaining eligibility.

Hearing Jereme Richmond is gone. That coupled with the rumors he was transferring, makes more sense.

I don't see the point of entering w/ an agent unless you're a clear cut top 10 pick when you declare.

Uh..because maybe they have their mind made up that they are ready to move on. College isn't for all.

I don't follow college basketball as much as some of you, but I have literally not heard of 25% of these guys.

It always gives me a chuckle when I see the grand total of guys who are declaring. A lot of these guys must have "boys" in their ears telling them how good they are. There is always a large number of guys who are SOL after the draft concludes.

Josh Selby has not entered the draft, nor has he hired an agent.

He simply worked out in Las Vegas one day and everyone said he is going pro and hiring an agent...it means nothing.

I really don't think Selby will go pro, which is why I said something..if it was all but a done deal, I wouldn't care. But I really think he needs another year in a system that fits him..and I think Self is going to tell him this.

I'm sure Matta told Mullens, Koufos, and Cook that they needed another year in a system, but sometimes the thought of riches is too much to overcome. I hope Selby does come back, as that's always a good thing for CBB.

Actually, its more than one day. Its at least a few, possibly the entire week he is working out in Vegas. And it does mean something. Doen't mean he will go...but don't kid yourself, he wants to go or he wouldn't be doing this to get a feel for his draft position.

You're right my bad, it was more than one day...so far it's been two lol

Don't kid myself? What's the difference between the dozens of players every year who enter the draft, don't hire an agent, and then pull out soon as they know their draft position? Does it really hurt to go work out with pro coaches and improve your game, then decide to come back to school? It happens every year, why is it that when Selby does it, it means he wants to just bail and go pro?

Valid point..and I'm not saying Selby is going to come back; all I'm saying is this year's offense revolved around the post and whenever they kicked it out, is when the guards could shoot. That's not how Selby is used to playing and that quite frankly isn't his game..his game is to create off the dribble, slash, distribute. If he realizes that the offense next year will revolve around him, I see no reason to go pro after a TERRIBLE freshman season.

Many of those guys won't even get drafted. Then what do they do?
