This needs to be one of those "sticky threads."

As a Duke fan, you have no room to talk about cakewalks to a championship.

Being the best team in the country=national champions? Hmmm...no.

Just you pointing out the easy run to the title game is ironic and hilarious.

So what determines it?

What determines who is the best team in the country? Personal, subjective opinions :D

So then there are about 20-25 "best" teams in the country. Makes sense.

of course not, since the best team in the country lost last night to Kentucky--how's that for ironic and hilarious??

Agreed. A one game elimination tournament doesn't yield the best team. It yields a tournament champion.

This why the NBA has playoff series.

I am allowed to think Kansas has been the best team in the country all year...they are tied for the best record and at times have played better than anyone...if I want to think they are the best team, there is nothing out there that can prove that wrong.

Exactly..it's also why the BCS system is great at determining the true national champion; and why the march madness tourney simply decides who is the hottest team during a 6 game span. I mean does anyone really think VCU is one of the best 8 teams in college basketball?

Okay fine, technically it's not "wrong"...it just makes whoever thinks OSU is the best team sound really dumb.

I just was feeling sorry for you, S&L...you've been getting kicked around here a lot lately (but I still feel that OSU is the best team in the country, so dumb I must be!!!)

VCU is probably better than most of the teams that have been elimnated. they actually had to beat some pretty good teams to get where their at. it wasnt like they had a top seed, played 2 cream puffs , then bowed out when they faced the first good team in the toruney.

Really?
USC in 2003
Auburn in 2004
Boise St in 2006
USC in 2008
Boise St and TCU in 2009
TCU in 2010

All disagree.
