For as good as Florida State was defensively this year, how do you end your season getting beat like that on an inbounds play for an easy lay up?

I love the fact that the TBS clock started at 7.0 and somehow ended at 7.1 after the bucket was made...

FSU played terrible in the last 15 secs of reg and OT. I can't stand the strategy of these teams that fritter away time trying to get the very last second shots and end up getting nothing or bad shots. That and not taking advantage of 2 for 1 when they have the ball and the clock approaches 40 sec left.

Will VCU's legacy be:

a) the 1st CBB team to win 4 tourney games and not make a Final Four
b) the 1st CBB team to win 5 tourney games and not make a Championship game
c) the 1st CBB team to win 6 tourney games and not be a National Champion
d) the 1st CBB team to win 7 games for a National Championship
e) none of the above matter because the "experts" already look like fucktards for bitching about VCU five seconds after they were in

I go with 'E'. No matter what happens to VCU from here on out, they shut the haters up. They can get beat by KU by 50 and they will still have respect from knowledgable fans. Now that the Buckeyes are out, I am a VCU and Butler fan. Gotta love the underdog.

I will go with E as well. I just remember the selection show and hearing Jay Bilas and Dick Vitale raising a shit storm about how VCU had no business in the tournament, and how the selection committee needed to be replaced with "basketball guys". Bilas and Vitale would have put in Colorado, Alabama or Virginia Tech. Don't they feel sheepish?

They should but Bilas doesn't. I heard Vitale say last week that he was wrong. Bilas continues to stutter and stammer when asked about it and say things like "Tournament performance has nothing to do with what I said on selection Sunday."

Bilas is correct. VCU did NOT have the resume to be in this tournament. No matter what the accomplish, it doesnt make up for the fact that no has a clue what merit they got in on. Unless the committee had a crystal ball foreseeing this great run...why are they in the tourney???

As for the VCU run and Butler run. I hope they both lose. I love great tourney runs, but I want my Final Four to be made up of the big dogs and make for great hype etc. Butler isnt quite the same, because back-to-back would be special. But I have little interest in seeing VCU in the F4. I already watched the worst F4 of all time when George Mason was in it...

Bilas was definitely right..VCU should not have been in the tournament, based on their resume'. Whether or not VCU wins 0, 1, or 7 games in the tourney is irrelevant to his point.

I agree with you guys that Bilas' point of them not having the resume to get into the tourney was ok, however, he said they would get dominated and they are proving that wrong. He should at least own up to that.

Laley, I understand your opinion about having the big dogs in the F4, but I love seeing the cinderellas. That's what makes this tourney so great and seperates it from college football. You let the teams decide the national championship, not computers.

As the front page of the Duke Basketball Report displayed prominently in the hours after Duke's loss to Arizona, Go Butler! We're all Bulldogs now. Whether you grew up a fan of the Blue Devils, in Upstate New York as a supporter of the Orangemen or spend your winters on the West Coast visiting Pauley Pavilion, there's nothing more exciting in this game than following the Cinderella once your team is gone from the tournament.

I agree with Laley in that I only cheer for the Cinderella when that Cinderella outwardly seems to have a legitimate chance to challenge for the whole damn thing. Davidson of 2008 is a primary case in point. And Butler, while not quite a Cinderella after their dashing run through March a season ago, has a legitimate chance to challenge for the whole damn thing. Brad Stevens is a masterful coach and I think we are witnessing the opening chapter to a Hall-of-Fame career. I truly believe that. When Coach K is gone, I couldn't think of a non-Duke affiliated person whom I'd rather have presiding over my program. He's special and I hope he can get the Hoosier Heartland back into The Show. It's a tremendous story for our sport.
