In it's 8th year now. I know it's 9 months off still, but thought I'd get the info out there for the Wayne Co. area fans on the site.
Hiland is finally a part of the Smitty and they'll jump right in the fire and take on Orrville in the feature game.
West Holmes is also back after a 3-year absence.....and North Canton Hoover will take part as well, bringing Viking coach Randy Montgomery back to Wayne Co. where he turned Triway basketball into a state power a few decades ago.
The whole lineup is as follows.
December 17, 2011
Triway vs. Newark Catholic
Northwestern vs. Heath
Norwayne vs. West Holmes
Hillsdale vs. Norwalk
Wooster vs. North Canton Hoover
Orrville vs. Hiland
More info to come on tickets, but they're usually pretty reasonable. $10 at the door was last year's price. Should draw a nice crowd this year.
Here's the Smitty Classic results from 2004-2009 (gotta add 2010 when I get time).

Nice to see Hiland back, it will bring another strong local fan base to the games. By the way, good luck this weekend to the Hawks and all their fans.
We have discussed this before, but it still puzzles me why this event isn't sold out for every game. I think I paid $8 for my all day ticket this year and those who were there saw some incredible basketball action. Both the Northwestern and Dalton games were almost instant classics. The other games were very good as well, except maybe the Triway v. Brunswick game, that was a blow out from the opening whistle.
Even if you are not a fan of any one particular team in this thing, it is a great way to spend a Saturday.

I could be completely wrong here, but we were told a couple years ago that Timken has only ever been completely sold out one time. The Smithville/Triway district championship game in 2009. It is a pretty large gym if you think about it, as far as hosting high school games.

Dover always plays a game at OU in December and usually plays in the Hoover Classic in January. Id like to see them play in the Steve Smith Tourney.

Yes, been to 2 games where Witt/Woo was sold out, been a few years back thought, this years game was probably only 3/4 full.

The 2010 District Final game between Orrville and Triway had to be a sell out as well. I didn't see any empty seats that night.
