Because the season is obviously still going on.

I'll discuss alright...

Hopefully the Jackets come out and take it to the Red Wings. CBJ has had a tough stretch defensively, but still find themselves tied for first in the Central with 20 points. I think Detroit has 15? So this is a key game to establish some distance.

I'm fairly certain CBJ is the only first place team with a (-) goal differential..

It's been confirmed that the Jackets will be one of the six team to start the season in Europe next year. Road trip anyone?

No, they've only been approached about it to gauge interest. The teams chosen for this likely won't be known until after the Olympics.

Jackets 6-1-3 in their last 10.

I will take that every time. Even with that 9-1 shellacking mixed in.

There's still Craig MacTavish. But please Howson, don't fire Hitch and bring him on board.

12 thousand and change in attendance on a Thursday night against one of the most historic franchises in sports and probably the most famous franchise in the NHL? 25% of those fans were Toronto fans who were collectively louder than half of the CBJ crowds this year?

Lets be real, I'm a BIG supporter, but you can't help but wonder about the future of this franchise. I mean they are at an all-time high point in terms of competitiveness, the tickets can be had almost anywhere in the arena for incredibly cheap (10 bucks or so) and STILL nobody cares? What more will it take?

Hockey in Columbus is in trouble.

After a tough loss to Colorado, the Jackets had 4 days to prepare for another stretch of 5 games in 7 days. Hosting Florida tonight, one of the worst teams in the NHL. Dorsett is back. The CBJ need 2 points, BADLY.

The only time Columbus sells out a game is when Detroit, Chicago, and Pittsburgh are in town.

Flordia really isn't that bad. Horton and Weiss have been on fire in the past couple of weeks.

There was 14K there that night, but still, yeah attendance will get better later in the season and if the team wins and makes another playoff push. Im confident hockey will succeed here in Columbus. Its gonna take some time and a commitment by both the fans, city, and team but it can and WILL happen.

I dont think we sold out one Chicago game last year. And we certainly didnt sell out Detroit a couple weeks back. We had like 15,700 that night.

We have had about 3 sellouts this year already. Season opener vs Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and I said about because the Calgary game was only a couple hundred short. So we are capable of selling out for non divisional or regional games.

Team needs to start winning some more and as the season progresses it will pick up.

HUGE win tonight in terms of confidence and keeping pace in the standings.

Tonight was a great effort. Lots of missed offensive chances but Mason was really good. Still some lapses defensively, but a good finish from the CBJ.

My biggest gripe about the attendance is that this isn't like other pro sports. Tickets are more reasonable than almost any sport in town, and that includes college events. You can walk up and scalp lower bowl tickets for 15-20 bucks and you can get in the gate for 5-10. I know the economy is bad but people are still blowing money on many other things and not taking advantage of seeing pro sports. That's the concern. The Jacket's popularity and attendance should be at an all-time high right now, and it's WORSE than it has been during some really lean years. How this doesn't concern people is beyond me. Luckily, there are half-a-dozen franchises in the NHL that are in far worse shape. Maybe contraction should be considered...

If I can scalp lower bowl seats for 20 bucks, then why am I paying $40 for my season ticket package per seat in the upper bowl??? Another reason to let my season ticket package expire after this season.

^^^^^True. I've got a 10 game package and so far every game I've gone to (except the Penguins) I've been able to sneak down and sit around the glass. Since nobody hardly goes to the games why not take advantage of it.

Good question. The answer is, for the time being, no reason. The only thing you get out of it is security that you are in the gate and in those seats in case the demand might all of the sudden rise or the crowd may be full. So far this year, that isn't worth much.

I guess more of what I'm referring to is the lack of interest for a professional team that is coming off their most successful season ever and have a great young core to support. On top of that, there are multiple ways to afford access to the games.
