One guy got pulled over in a slow zone and got a written warning, but it made him 7 minutes late getting back and he is DQ'd. Another guy fell and broke his ankle but still fished all day, and is in it today, top 50.

It's as much of a sport as NASCAR.

So no, not at all.

Last month Kevin Van Dam won $500,000 for The Bassmaster Classic.
not bad for a week of fishing.

I say its a sport to the 50 guys in today's tourney.

I've been watching the last 2 weeks because they are in my spots, the Harris Chain of Lakes and St. John's River this weekend. I do a lot more coastal inshore fishing than bass fishing, I did get a nice bass last week, 18" , almost 4 lbs. in Lake Woodruff from DeLeon Springs.

The fish are more of athletes than the fishermen.

I wouldn't call bass fishers athletes but the equipment does not do ALL the work.

If bass fishing is a sport I just spent my last few hours getting my butt handed to me. Bass 1 Scarlet Fever 0

No "event" where 1 competitor has a mental advantage over the other is a sport. So no, hunting/fishing/etc are games and not sports.

Even so, fly-fishing is better:D

Anyone that is comparing fishing and Nascar is ridiculous. I don't care for Nascar, but it is a mentally and physically draining endeavor, fishing is something most people do to relax. They aren't even close to the same.

Competitive bass fishing is more of a sport than competitive napping, but less of one than competitive crack dealing.
