Pretty remarkable. When Reagan was speaking of billions of dollars of American debt, I imagine he never thought that a few decades later we'd be looking at TRILLIONS of dollars of debt.
I loved it when he said at the time we were spending $45 billion dollars to "eliminate" poverty and that if we had divided that $45 billion among those who needed it most and added it to their existing incomes, they would have been brought out of poverty. But somehow a vast majority of that money never made it to the people who supposedly needed it. He quotes, "It would seem that someplace there must be some overhead."
The more things hope and change, the more they stay the same.

That's funny . . . I think he would agree with "Liberals never think that what they're doing is wrong, they just think they haven't done enought of it yet."
