that's why I said unless they get lucky in the lotto. They have a 72% chance at the 8th pick and 17% chance at the 9th pick.

The big difference is Kanter had a full ride offer at Kentucky and would have been a starter had he not gotten in trouble with the NCAA. He's not some guy that played in crappy Euro leagues and boosted his stock. He was one of the top big man recruits in the country coming into Kentucky and he would be taken even higher if he had played. I'd have no problem with him at 8.

I think Sully made a comment about Kanter being one of the toughest players he has ever faced. If Kanter is there with the 2nd pick, I'm more than OK with the Cavs pulling the trigger.

My belief is that if the Cavs can get this done and they DON'T win the lottery (my understanding is their pick can fall anywhere from 1-5) that they will use a combination of these 1st round picks to move up to get Irving.

Same, or maybe get Detroit's 1st round pick for next year's draft. That would be even better. Not winning the lottery is not going to hurt the Cavs that much imo. Let's be honest here, they are likely headed to a lottery pick next season as well, so they will be in position for a high draft pick with a much deeper talent pool. Don't forget they have the Heat's 1st round pick as well. Maybe as I have said before, wade and lebron will tear their ACL's and the heat will be looking at the lottery zone next year. One can hope.

Brian Windhorst said today on wknr that if the Cavs don't like their choices with the clippers pick, they could very well package it an bring in a big time player via trade. He said there are some teams that could be looking to unload some contracts. And no I don't have a link.

Cavs had a deal in place at the trading deadline to take on Rip Hamilton's contract and we'd get their first rounder (lottery) pick. Hamilton veto'd the trade. They are supposedly going to revisit this pre-draft. The Cavs would likely buy out Hamilton.

Resuming trade talks from the deadline where the Cavs tried to get Rip Hamilton and their 1st round pick for the TPE aka salary cap relief. Rip declined the trade but neither team ruled out the possibility of looking at the trade again.

Sullinger exactly didn't have a bad game either, both had high double doubles I believe.

Watched some of the game and was impressed with both.

I'm not saying he didn't have a good game...just funny whenever there's a negative post about OSU, devil will back it up...it becomes hilarious when it's not even on the college football board, he's still able to sniff it out

There is a 0% chance Kanter lasts until the 8th pick with as weak as the class is right now.

I don't think there are 5 guys right now I would take in the top 10, so I'm really hoping that Clippers pick works a little magic and moves up the board.

I only had to play the lottery machine on ESPN a couple of times to get the 1 and 3 picks. I hope that happens for real tonight.

I hope I'm wrong but I just get this strange feeling that they won't be picking in the top 3.

There is always the Ewing Theory. (Bill Simmon's theory that the lottery is rigged and Ewing went to the Knicks and Lebron to cavs etc..) Except I don't know who that would work towards in the draft. I think it would have to be the cavs because 1. They have a committed owner who will spend money. 2. The fan base is still there #3 in attendence even though we sucked. http://espn.go.com/nba/attendance 3. Would add to heated rivalrys in the east. Cavs fans have natural hate for celtics, bulls and heat for obvious reasons.

This is what I was getting at. If there's a "conspiracy theory" to be had, it can be looked at in one of two ways...a) throw Cleveland a bone after LeFraud kicked them in the dick on national TV or b) Hell no we're not giving Cleveland a top pick after the LeFraud debacle.

It would work for Detroit to get Kyrie Irving.
