Well will the Buckeyes get 1 more W in the left hand column before NCAA pairings come out? If they do I cannot see the Bucks NOT being the number 1 overall seed

I would hope they would get the #1 overall seed whether they win or lose, but let's not leave anything to chance...GO BUCKS!!!!

I want Ohio State to win with a clean sweep of the Big 10 in both the regular season and the Big 10 tourney. But Penn State has 90% of the motivation in this one. Battles is hot and a PSU win would just about wrap-up an NCAA bid for the Lions. With the exceptions of "proving a point" and cementing an overall #1 NCAA tourney seed (which they probably have even if they lose today), the Buckeyes have little to gain in this one.
Stay healthy Buckeyes!

A win would give PSU the automatic bid to the NCAA to there would be no question about them making it, anymore.
However, Ohio State's players don't look at this like a game to be played before the NCAA without meaning. They LIKE being in championship games and the LOVE winning them.
I think OSU already has the overall No. 1 seed (definitely A no. 1 seed at the least) regardless of this game. Typically, the committee has picked their top seeds before the Big Ten Tournament finale is done.
If you want to know the mindset of the Bucks, check out this column on the O-Zone.

Well, considering a PSU win would be an automatic bid I guess it would just about wrap up a bid.
Also, you are severely underestimating Ohio States motivation to win. Sure Penn State somewhat has a bid on the line, but OSU didn't get here just to be content. This is goal 2 of 3, and they will be just as fired up as Penn State.
Edit: Darn, writerbuckeye beat me to it.

OK "just about" was a poor choice of words but my point is still valid.Writerbuckeye;709849 wrote:A win would give PSU the automatic bid to the NCAA to there would be no question about them making it, anymore.

No one wants to see Ohio State beat Penn State more than I. When one's place of employment is just a couple of miles from the Penn State campus and every friggin car in the parking lot has those bland, ugly blue & white Penn State magnets attached to the bumpers, do you guys think I want to go to work tomorrow and listen to the "Ohio State is overrated" talk? Hell no.
Ohio State's players may want the "W" as per the O-Zone article, but Penn State has been playing good basketball of late and have a lot more on the line than the Buckeyes.
Call me a "pessimist" all you want Ytown, but I won't be surprised at all if Penn State wins this tourney.

Haha, no ill will believer, a game just wouldn't be complete without your pessimism. I consider it part of my ritual this year...Buckeye socks, check, Buckeye beer mug, check, read believers pre-game pessimism...check.

I have my rituals too. No shaving on game day, bottle of Yuengling Lager Light, a bag of Snyder's Honey Mustard Pretzels, and my Ohio State hoodie.

I think PSU is in either way today.
With Kansas winning impressively against Texas and only having two losses (same as OSU), OSU will need to win today to lock up the #1 seed. Although I don't think it matters since Kansas wouldn't play at Cleveland or New Jersey where OSU is likely headed.

Their early season losses were by big deficits to some relatively mediocre competition. If the Lions beat Ohio State, they're in - yes - by virtue of winning the Big 10 tourney. If they lose, they'd be a top bubble team.

Sullinger has 2 double doubles in the Big Ten Tournament thus far. That's never been done before. Will he get a third today?
Ohio State has been in 4 of the past 5 Big Ten Tournament Finals, move over Michigan State.

Battle may go for 30 ..but unless he gets some help, no way can PSU hang in this game.

I really don't like thinking about North Carolina being the 2 seed in the East.

Great coaching job by Matta coming out of the timeout. Puts on a 1-2-2 press, gets a steal basket and a basket and causes Penn State to use a timeout.

Since Craft game in game...Battle hasn't even gotten a shot off. Just think how good he would be if he had some latteral quickness.
