DIV Canton Regional
@ Canton Fieldhouse

Tues. March 15 @ 6:15
#2 Hiland 23-1
Windham 13-10

Tues. March 15 @ 8:00
#5 Richmond Hts 24-0
#10 McDonald 23-0

I think I have seen all play at the Fieldhouse Regional in years past except Richmond Hts., whom I think will be making their 1st trip to regionals, not sure

I would put $12 on seeing a Hiland/Hts regional final.

Richmond Hts is the school that ousted their coach for transgressions mid season?

Well...I don't know what happened to him, but yeah, that is the school where the kids said they weren't playing if he was still there.

Richmond heights has been there at least once before. They played Hiland in either 1999 or 2000. Very physical game and they hadn't scouted the Hawks overly well. Sat in a zone and Kendall S hit about 80 3's :). The suspended head coach was an asst for that team. Things got a bit rough with their students oustide after the game, but most of our students were still inside celebrating and the police showed up and handled the situation before anything got out of hand. Physical play and the fan's antics pretty much overshadowed the win.

That game was one of the funniest games I have ever been to. I played Hiland several times in my day and it never dawned on me to dare them to beat you with the 3ball. Wasn't the score like 31-10 after the 1st quarter? Anyhow, the fights in the stands and the look on the Hiland fans when the fights were happening....well, that was just hilarious.

Looked it up, it was 2000 and 85 to 66 final.

if the two teams get to the final (a big IF) i don't expect the same outcome (a blowout that is), tho wouldn't mind it! From what I've seen RH has some players!

You guys have nailed it. This region is about Hiland and Richmond Hts. Now watch the final be Windham vs. McDonald.

I remember a few years ago McDonald brought an undefeated team into Canton and we watched them play, and then we asked, "How in the world did this team go undefeated? Who do they play, Berlin Elementary?" Maybe the past has no relevance to the present.

Windham has 10 losses. Either their young team has found it, or they just came out of a weak district. I remember in 06 we lost to them in the regional finals by 9 or 10 because they were able to make us play faster than we wanted to play. Mark sped us up for 07 and when we got them in the reg semis, we beat them at their own game convincingly. It was 75 degrees outside that night and 98 degrees inside, but the Hawks were cooking at about 118 degrees. We kicked their tails. I expect the same tomorrow night.

RH is exactly the kind of team that I think can beat Hiland by just having athletes on the floor that we can't quite match. However, we have some athletes too, and we have 3 premier players, along with a couple others who can play at that level, and a bench that is probably unmatched in DIV. If the Hawks come out, I like our chances in Columbus - assuming that if we are in a tight game, we will get the ball to our best player. Don't ask. It's an old, and probably best forgotten, sore spot.

I hate the chances in columbus....just because of recent history....hope it changes. I have a feeling that dayton jefferson is looming for the hawks in cbus if they get there (i think that would be the final though).

Canton winner plays Bowling Green winner 1st, Jefferson would be in the finals on Sat.

What are the chances of Noah Boyd just exploding with 3's in Canton similar to the way Clippy did several years ago. We could call the place "Noah's Arc". :)

Windham has very good coaching/program....
McDonald (23-0 AP#3), I know nothing about them but something tells me Richmond H (24-0 AP#5) better not look past them......alot of great schools still in the hunt, Continental (19-3 AP#9) vs Toledo Christian (17-7)
McComb (23-0 AP#4) vs Edgerton (18-3) up in Bowling Green.

Pitt Franklin Monroe (23-1) vs Dayton Jefferson (19-3 AP#6)
Houston (18-5) vs Minster (18-5) Kettering Regional

South Webster (18-4) vs Manchester (18-5)
Bucyrus Wynford (18-5) vs Harvest Prep (19-4) Faiground Coliseum Region, did see HP is under "inquiry" by ohsaa whatever that means.

my favorites at this point to make the trip to Cbus would be Harvest Prep, Dayton Jefferson, McComb and the Canton region is so loaded its to close to call but I will anyway and pick Richmond Heights (I hope I'm wrong)

McDonald has won 62 straight regular season games and their only loss in the last 2 seasons was last year's regional semifinal to Shadyside 65-49, so the have been to Canton a few times , just never been able to get through this regional and make it to state.

Richmond Hts is in the regionals for their first time since 2000, when the Hawks beat them, and also never made it to state.

Hiland ( 7 times ) and Windham ( 3 times ) have both made state appearances with Hiland winning once in 1992. Windham last went in 2006 and Hiland in 2007.

Hiland ( 14th regional ) and Windham ( 13th regional ) have split 2 previous regional games.

If its RH and Hiland in the finals, should we conceal and carry given what happened the last time? :)

For what it's worth, Massey has Hiland over Windham by 29 and over RH by 10.
