My appetite has been real sporadic the past couple months...it doesn't help I've had off and on relationship problems, which makes me nausea every time I think about it. That's not always the case, but it definitely takes a toll. But I've been going a day or two at a time without eating anything, which isn't me. I usually eat 5 meals a day and am real active.
Right now is probably my worse. I had a big breakfast yesterday (Sunday) morning and haven't ate anything since, almost 36 hours...I've had some fluids (some mountain dew, about 24oz of gatorade, ice) but even that's been stretched out over the whole day.
I don't necessarily feel sick -- but I have had a headache, general fatigue, and nausea. Idk if that's from being sick or just not eating anything. But nothing sounds good, I can't force myself to eat anything. I weighed myself at the Y nine days ago and I weighed 218lbs -- tonight I was down to 211lbs.
I just cannot shake whatever it is...depression, being sick, etc....I don't know.

I know...whine whine. Just wanted to talk/vent about it I guess.

Go for a run.

Just kidding.

Um, did anything else change the past few months?

Sounds like depression a bit to me. I battled it back in 06 after my dad passed. I experienced the same thing for long chunks of time when it came to eating. I wanted nothing, food wasn't appealing at all most of the time. I basically only ate at times to survive or because my girl was on my case about it.

Yeah I've always had problems with depression, especially anxiety. My problem this week is I'm on Spring Break and I'm one who NEEDS stuff to do -- I can't just sit around watching movies, television, play x-box. I can never just relax and enjoy down time. I had the day off work today, but luckily I'm going back tomorrow. When I got off work last night, part of me was thinking, 'what the fuck, why not just drive down to Florida for the hell of it? Some time alone, away from work and school and ex-girlfriend and to sit on a beach or something might do me some good'....But, I was counting on MAKING money this break, not spending a bunch on gas. I work at a hospital, which is usually good for me. Helps your perspective to be there with people with bigger problems than you own.

I'm just terrible at asking for help. I keep everything bottled up. I use to be on meds for it and saw counselors, but I've quit all that. I just don't usually like talking about it. Makes me feel dumb. I'll wake up tomorrow morning and think "Why the hell was I on the Chatter last night bitching for"

That was my biggest problem. I kept everything bottled up and turned to no one to let it out. My father fell seriously ill in 99, I was in financial trouble, my marriage fell apart in 04 and my dad passed in 06. I almost lost it come 06. I was in a huge funk for about a year. Almost ruined my current relationship that year. I honestly don't know what happened but I just got up one day finally and said enough I'm not doing this anymore and I let it go. Started fresh with my girl, stopped bottling things up. Brought myself to talk with people when I had a problem instead of letting it build till I blew up. Life is too short my friend, way too short to live like that!

I was only joking because there was another thread about feeling down and it was suggested that they excercise.

Maybe this minor league site causes depression?

Nah I think this site helps. Or at least it helped me, well it was with JJ's back then but still most the same people. The good thing was I didn't have to come and put on a fake smile to chit chat with you all. I could get advice, and some not so good advice :), and just read many things that could keep things off my mind.

1. Go to the grocery store.
2. Buy a pound, maybe two, of bacon, cheese slices, tomato and bread
3. Return home and start frying up the bacon and making toast
4. Eat and smile!

Don't worry, you'll get over this funk...

Yea man I sympathize with you. When Adam lambert came out of the closet, my life turned upside down overnight. I couldn't find the energy to felch, shuttle dock, or play wizard sticks with anyone. Also, I had a bad case of hemmeroids which made life more painful than it should be. Ya know what cured by blues? Dying my hair. I felt a spring in my step, air in my lungs and a pang in my Wang like I haven't felt in awhile.

as far as the girl thing, just gotta move on..if you she wants you, she'll come back, and by that time you should have someone else. That way if you really still feel like you should be with her you will, if not you have the other chick

I went through a very similar situation a little over a year ago. I was setting up plans to pop the question to my girl, she cheated on me, stuck with the guy for whatever reason, she then ruined several relationships I had with people. Whenever I'd try to talk to her, or her sister(whom I was very close friends with), about it she'd make me feel like the bad guy and hit me with a few low blows. I felt alone and refused to talk about anything. I broke my ribs and I ended up losing 30 pounds in about a month and a half and, like you, I couldn't eat, couldn't move. Everything sucked. It took a while but time made it feel better. I dove into the bottle hard, but I wouldn't advise it, it doesn't help.(In case you thought about it) My point is I know what you're going through and there is a light on the other end of the tunnel, so to speak, you just have to give yourself time to look for it.

Vent on here, it helps. There are several people on here that have been through the same. Also, a day will come here and there where you will be in a good mood. Use it to go out and talk to some girls, whether you like them or not. The attention from them will help you forget about the ex.

Don't forget to do her best friend on the way back to recovery. That always helps.

As far as eating goes just watch some food porn on the food network then go to your favorite eating joint and pig out.

This has worked for me in the past. Try it.

Of course, with all the money I have now, you'd be a dumbass to try and "break up" with me.

Or if you're lucky ...

... two chicks at the same time! (I just had to do it. :D)

FFL, I had a similar deal back in 2003. Girlfriend at the time broke up with me while I had the engagement ring in my pocket. I hit the bottle pretty hard. Made it worse. I lost 40 lbs. in about two months.

What helped me was to stay as busy as possible. I wasn't hungry, so I figured I had an opportunity to get things done in that time. I poured myself into my academics. I picked an area of personal study and began writing on it. I was lifting every day. I was involved in a local chapter for young professionals. I was involved in a local youth center.

I filled my time ... every minute I could ... with something to do. When I stopped moving I got sad again, so my goal for the better part of a year was to run all day until I was exhausted, sack out on my bed or on the couch, and then wake up and do it all over again.

And I gotta tell you, time was the only cure, but doing this was like an anesthetic for the meantime. Worked great.

Thanks for the advice guys.
O-Trap -- your advice is always the philosophy I have followed. When this all started, I would be in school from about 9am until 4pm every day, then I'd come home and hit the books for a few hours, then on to the Y for another hour or two. By the time I got home, I'd watch an episode of Wonder Years or something to mellow, then go to bed. Wake up the next morning and repeat. I realize that in circumstances like these, there's very little that will make you happy. You just have to keep yourself busy, focus on the positive, and let time heal, which it always does.

Staying busy is my best advice and if you have some free time on the weekends meet up with some friends, go to a bar and have a few beers. The only thing that sucked about staying busy at work is I work for a bank and deal with some asshole customers. There were definatly a few days where I could of snapped and broke some fucking necks without even giving two shits. Actually, being a dick to some people that were being very rude felt amazing and the coworkers thought it was hilarious.

Did the same thing working for Ace Hardware. Having apathy for keeping or losing my job at the time (not a good thing, mind you, but I was a full-time student living at home) actually made me not afraid to say what was on my mind.

Usually, it wasn't anything too bad, but I distinctly remember telling one lady who was complaining about me selling her the wrong size PVC pipe that I only sold her what she said would work, and that if she'd had two brain cells to rub together, she would have known that you can't just eyeball it when the part is at home. After that, when she said she'd never be back, I said I was happy I wouldn't have to deal with her ignorant complaining anymore.

The kicker was, my boss came up to me right after. He'd been listening in, and he said that if the store manager said anything, then he had to suspend me, but unofficially, he loved it and was glad the lady wasn't coming back.

Lowry, I don't encourage this behavior. :D
