There was talk on this board, which was based on 'Inside" information, that Kyrie Irving would return to active duty in Chapel Hill. Since that did not happen, what is Irving's status for the rest of year?

That "inside" information, which, on my end, was derived from premium online materials and simply through sports talk radio/Duke staff interviews, never delivered facts. It did, however, offer an educated guess. That guess was wrong. I personally thought he'd be back, as did others who were perhaps unable to see past what, at the time, was a quicker-than-expected recovery process for #1. (It should be noted that I probably read and heard what I wanted to read and hear, as, unless Kyle Singler quickly morphs into Rick Mount, Duke's only chance at a national championship runs through Kyrie Irving.)
Since Kyrie was obviously not in uniform last night, I will have to have another chat with Christian, Coach K's pet fish. (This is where I got my last information.) I knew he was telling a tall tale.

Last update I read, it was highly doubtful he would return. Possible by ACC tourney, but that was doubtful. But there was talk it wasn't worth taking the chance seeing that he is a probably top 5/10 draft pick.

As much as I want to see Kyrie, who, I think, is undisputedly the most talented point guard in the country, play again for the Blue Devils, I am in the camp that believes he should not come back. Unless he is 160% recovered from that December injury, it's just not worth it. This is his life.centralbucksfan wrote:But there was talk it wasn't worth taking the chance seeing that he is a probably top 5/10 draft pick.

I'd agree. On top of that, this Duke team is used to playing without him. To throw him back in, this late in the season...you never know what to expect.

Some close to the Cavs hope he's available when they pick.

I thought that was Nolan Smith? Do you Duke fans know any players outside of Duke? Did you go to Duke? No, you didn't.

I am not sure about this. I think he would have been in the conversation, but his body work is so limited that a judgment can't be made.is undisputedly the most talented point guard in the country,

I just wanted to point out this phrasing is at odds withitself. Either you're saying you think he's the most talented, or you're saying everyone thinks he is the most talented (what undisputed means in this contect). But it makes no sense to say I think everyone thinks he's the most talented. That's all.

Kyrie was cleared by a Charlotte based physician this week for weight bearing exercise, and he subsequently began on court rehab drills this week. Whether he begins practicing with the team is still undecided. I am still holding out hope he can begin practicing with the team in a week. It is highly doubtful he would be in uniform the rest of the season.

Thank you, Truman Capote, for uncovering that. You have a knack for words as well as detection.Fly4Fun wrote:I just wanted to point out this phrasing is at odds withitself.
