This show is crazy good this year. I cannot say I miss Simon at all.

Top 12 guys took the stage tonite...and only a few weak performances. Gonna be tough to cut some of these guys.
Without a doubt, the best talent they have EVER had on the show.

My favorites so far...
Jacob Lusk
James Durbin
Casey Abrahms
I'm not a big country fan, but Scott McCreery seems a lock for a country career.

Girls on tonite.

I actually kind of missed Simon. There were a number of times I wanted to hear somebody be told how they sounded like they were singing on a cruise ship. Steve Tyler and Jennifer Lopez seemed like they didn't want to give a harsh word to anyone. How I grade them:

Clint Jun Gamboa: "Superstition" Not a bad start, but I have to admit I have not liked the guy since he was rude to the fat kid back in Hollywood. Also, is it just me or could be stand in as Kim Jong Il's grandson? B-
Jovanny Barretto: "I'll Be". Gotta bring it much stronger than that Jovanny. While not sung bad, it was not a great song choice. C
Jordan Dorsey: "OMG" The song title sums up his performance nicely. That was a complete train wreck. Time for Dorsey to go back to teaching music. D-
Tim Halperin: "Streetcar Symphony" Not a good song choice dude. I liked this guy in Hollywood, he needs to be sitting behind the piano doing his thing. This song did not help him he and Jordan will be sweating it out next week. D+
Brett Lowenstein: "Light My Fire" This guy is simply bizarre. I half wonder to myself if he should be performing with the girls. I have to admit he does have a nice voice and I am guessing he will go far on the show. There was an awkward moment between him and Ryan after the performance, I wonder if Brett has a crush. B
James Durbin: "You Got Another Thing Coming" Hell yeah! This dude can rock. He reminds me a bit of Adam Lambert, just not so over the top. A-
Robbie Rosen: "Angel" This guy reminds me of Robbie Benson. I think you either love him or you don't. I did not care for the performance personally. C-
Scotty McCreary: "Letters From Home" Love this dude. At first I was concerned he was a one hit wonder since he sang the same song for about three weeks, but this performance erased my fears. This guy is going to be a country music star regardless of what happens on the show. B+
Stefano Langone "Just the Way You Are" The judges loved the guy, especially J-LO who seems to have taken to the guy like Paula Abdul did with Constantine. I thought it was an OK performance B-
Paul McDonald "Maggie Mae" There's just something about this guy that I like. Maybe it is the fact he looks like a lost Bee Gee or maybe it was how he just wondered around the stage like he didn't realize they were taping. I think he'll be sticking around the show for a little while B-
Jacob Lusk "A House Is Not A Home" I think the best vocal of the night, although maybe not the #1 performance. A-
Casey Abrams "I Put A Spell On You" I think everyone has targeted this guy as a favorite since his first performance. Not the #1 vocal of the night, but perhaps the best performance along with James Durbin. A-

I watched up to Scott McCreary(OSU game started), and I didn't really think any of them were that great. I despise the Durbin guy, he reminds me of someone that should be in an 80's rock cover band.

I think the girls will be really good tonite, they are overall more talented than the guys, imo.

McCreery definitely gets the strong country votes and goes far. His sheepish country boy attitude has women of all ages gushing.

I didn't really like the Surging kid until last night. I always thought he had a strong voice, but took it way over the top too often. Last night he flat out kicked ass. When I heard the becoming of the song I thought he was going to butcher it because of the wide vocal range in the original recording by Rob Halford. He did just enough of the higher screaming to make it rock, but checked himself from sounding like, well, a Singer on a cruise ship.

I just don't dig the Lusk guy that people keep bragging about. According to everyone he has an amazing voice. I just can't listen to it. Sort of the way I felt about Adam Lambert.

I will be tuning in tonite to see Julie Zorrilla!! I think Lauren Alaina and Thia Megia may be the most talented on the show this year. Megia made it a long way on America's Got Talent last year.

Oh the long haired kid who cried about getting picked on in school. Yeah, I'm not huge on him.

Not sure if you're friends with Julie or why you're rooting for her, but honestly, her performance did zero for me tonight. Blah.

And, the guys, as far as singing talent, have got the girls trumped, big time.

Pia is another one of those names which always equates to a hottie. Pia is not just hot in the regular fashion, I have no doubt she could compete in a Miss America pageant. She is a freaking goddess.
