This is great news. It's still way too early to get hopes up about a cure, but this is a step in the right direction. I'm sure there will be some ignorant people who will boohoo this as leading to more promiscuity if it were to lead to a cure for AIDS, but bull on them.
In a bold new approach ultimately aimed at trying to cure AIDS, scientists used genetic engineering in six patients to develop blood cells that are resistant to HIV, the virus that causes the disease.

It's far too early to know if this scientific first will prove to be a cure, or even a new treatment. The research was only meant to show that, so far, it seems feasible and safe.

The concept was based on the astonishing case of an AIDS patient who seems to be cured after getting blood cells from a donor with natural immunity to HIV nearly four years ago in Berlin. Researchers are seeking a more practical way to achieve similar immunity using patients' own blood cells.

There is no downside to curing a disease like this, so I'm not sure why you'd think someone would say its bad because it would lead to promiscuity?

I'm as conservative as they come and to be honest, I don't think the fear of AIDS stops people from having sex, it just ups the sales of condoms.

Trojan stock may drop if a cure for AIDS is found, that's a downside I guess.

While this would be great news if this would lead to a cure or a way to prevent AIDS, I would be much happier if this were a cure or preventative measure for cancer, heart disease, obesity or any other disease that affects more people world wide and that cannot be as easily prevented as AIDS can.
