Below are some stats (<--- palindrome!) concerning the district tournament at Hilliard Darby and the sectionals that fed into them.
All in all, pointless data, perhaps, but whatever. I'm down!
Southwest Sectional, if you consider that they are one-fourth of the tournament, should pretty much make up one of four of the top 4 spots for qualification. We have 14 weight classes times the 4 spots...56 available. SW is one-fourth, ergo, they SHOULD get 14 wrestlers through Darby and on into the state tournament. This year they over shot that by two! They qualified 16 through Darby. Nice work, SW.
Concerning the entire tournament based on sectionals...
Top 4 place winners: Total (Champs, runners-up, 3rd and 4th)
Pick. North: 20 (2, 6, 4, 8)
Centerville: 16 (5, 5, 3, 3)
Marysville: 12 (5, 2, 4, 1)
Westland: 8 (2, 1, 3, 2)
What was the conso-semi record for kids that lost in the semis: 18-10.
Sectional Champs that did NOT qualify for the state tournament: 18 (CV-2, MA-7, PN-2, WL-7)
I'm sure there are other things I'll think of as the day goes on, but that is what I was thinking about at around 2:14am.
3:30 in the mornin', not a soul in sight. The city's lookin' like a ghost town on a moonless summer night...
