I dont know how widespread it was, but in west central ohio a number of McDonalds had dollar big macs from 4-9 on Thursday evening.

.....and for hours and hours they were backed up well onto the road. At times is stretched for blocks alongside the road for hours on end.

Amazingly.....stupid to wait for a dollar Big Mac! Some said to have waited for 30 minute and more

I have not had a Big Mac since 1984. Ya see, McD’s decided that every time an American won a gold metal they would give out a Big Mac, fries for silver and drink for bronze if you had that card for that event. They gave the cards away like it was trick or treat. The Russians decided to pull out of the contest in protest from the US pulling out four years earlier. The US set records that year and chaos ensued at your local McD’s. Being the ever frugal parent my dad was, we ate nothing but Big Macs on a trip to Miami and back. We started ordering them plain, without that God awful sauce. I believe it is listed as the greatest fail in fast food promotions ever.

I'd wait about the same time as I normally would....more than 4 or 5 cars and I'm out of there.

I like to do what I call a "social experiment". IF there is like 6-7 cars I will make a mental note of what car I was behind, go on in and get food and see if that car is still waiting.

More times than not the car is still there waiting and I am back on the road again.

I don't eat McD's too often, but to answer your question, if I could walk in and get one in less than 5 minutes I would. Anything more than that would be a waste of my time.

This is about as dumb as driving 30 minutes to save 10 cents a gallon for gas.

A lot of good opinions here (especially the ones that involve McDonalds being disgusting shit) but this is pretty funny and true. Breakfast is about the only thing I can stand from McDonalds. If it wasn't for that, I'd probably eat no fast food. But breakfast is that one meal of the day I just cannot miss, and things like cereal and yogurt suck. I realize that the breakfast items are no better for you than anything else on the menu, and there are a few items I will avoid like the plague (that huge ass burrito they have, and the McGriddles -- which ARE good, but always leave you feeling like garbage after) so it's usually just an egg mcmuffin, 1-2 a week.

Anyways, it's always mind-blowing how many times you pull into a fast food joint and the drive-through line is stretching around the building, and PEOPLE still join it, meanwhile the inside lobby is dead. I get it. No one wants to get out of their car in the winter and walk 25 feet inside. So they wait in line and kill several minutes. Eh whatever floats your boat.

A couple weeks ago I stopped at one for breakfast, and I went through the drive-through because I wasn't sure if the lobby was open yet (it was like 6am, turns out it was open at 5am, so now I know) but I ordered a sweet tea...Idk how many ounces their large cups hold, but it was about 90% ice. So never again.

That's why you always tell them to go light on the ice.

Nada, wouldn't wait, period. I hate McDonalds, and big macs. Seriously, except for the breakfast chow, that place tastes like pure shit. Burgers don't taste like meat, period, and the buns are like cardboard. Can't see how anyone with any taste in beef can eat there. Glad those of you who do aren't any type of critic that writes articles suggesting where to go eat.

Back in the early 90's I was working at McDonalds during the buy 1 get one free (which was essentially $1 apiece) and we kept a dozen Big Macs in the heating bin at all times and we tried to keep 24-36 Big Macs up in addition on top of the microwave cuers......once we wre so busy the manager OK'd me making as many as I could ( I could assemble 12 in 29 seconds) and I was finally told to stop once I had 84 Big Macs WAITING to be wrapped....had 2 people only wrapping and microwaving them....lol

It was busy...but a blast to go all out.

They could give away Big Macs and it wouldn't touch the inital Beanie Babies............strories are unbelievable.

If I wanted one, the time would be the saving represented by the $1 divided by my billing rate. It's all about opportunity cost.

Not a fan of the Big Mac or anything in general that has a "special" or "secret" sauce. About the only fast food item I would wait any amount of time for would be a Shamrock shake and they've managed to mess those up by adding whipped cream and a cherry to it. SMH.
