Is there some sort of law I am unaware of that mandates that at least 1.5 inches of buttcrack has to be exposed? I know it is a stereotype but this all-too-common. Is it an issue of not finding the right type of clothing, the proud mark of their trade, or something else?

It's the proud mark of a beer belly limiting the ability to pull one's trousers up past their butt crack.

Here is a legitimate answer:

Fully loaded my tool belt weighs between 12 and 15 pounds. It sit on my waist at the same level as the belt on my pants does. I can constantly feel it pulling the back of my pants down. I have hooks on my belt to attach suspenders, but they Just get in the way.

I found that about eight case hards shot through my tool belt solves the problem.
