Doubtful.....since he probably would demand more than the league minimum...

No surprise. . . I love baseball, but it has become so boring!!! They need a salary cap.

As a Yankee fan, I'd certainly welcome him into our club. Could you imagine that? Andy Pettitte as the possible #5?

A salary cap will never happen. The owners won't agree to it. The luxury tax is supposedly a pseduo salary cap but we all know it doesn't work. Don't hate the teams that benefit, hate the system. half of the owners who get money from that pool don't even put it back into their own ballclubs.

So much for the Yankees trying to cut salary and become more youthful.

Barring any major injuries there is not reason why the yankees should repeat if they get Halladay

I'm not saying a salary cap isn't a good idea... but it has no relevance in this instance. He's still with the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays can accept or deny any trade that isn't fair. And if the Indians wanted to, they could do the same thing as the Yankees.

If this happens, Joba might be a Bluejay.

Could this be a case where baseball steps in and denies this trade?

Why would baseball deny it?

As a casual baseball fan, the only team I ever have any desire to watch is the Yankees, and if they pick up another superstar, the appeal to watch the Yankees only grows.

That or the other teams could grow some nuts and make some moves as well. I hate the Yankees but they seem to understand that sitting on top of a mountain of prospects doesn't win you the world series

Joba as a Bluejay might not be terrible. I like the current state of the bullpen, and with Coke throwing smoke as well as Marte and Coke, if they can get the ball to Rivera it wouldn't look so bad.

Yankees need to get younger over the next few years or they will be in trouble. Pettite, Jeter, Rivera are all getting up there. Trading away more young guys for Halladay may work but again they would be getting rid of more young players. Sure they can throw more money at free agents but eventually they have to develop their own guys.

That said, I pray they don't get Doc Halladay.

Baseball is having enough problems with people thinking its boring. This would make it so boring it would be unbearable. We all knew the Yankees would win after last offseason. With Halladay they may win 130 games.

Jeter will go at least 5 more years if not 6. Pettitte might be done, I think Rivera finishes out his contract.

I don't think the Yanks will win 130 games, but they may come close the 116 game winning Mariners a couple of years ago. Hopefully we don't suffer the same playoff fate they did if that happens
