I'm just practicing for Friday's big announcement.
Feel free to try it out guys, it rolls of the tongue very nicely.
Wel-come to No-tre Dame Mis-ter Stoops. Yep still sounds good when you say it slowly.
I could get used to this.
Wel-COME....no no.....WEL-come to Notre Dame.....no.....welcome TO Notre Dame, Mr. Stoops.....no no......

When "He" doesn't come, I can hear your AD at the official announcement now, "Uh...welcome Mr. Kelly...our first choice turned us down...again...but we are...uh...real glad we could steal you from such a prestigious job as HC at the Univ of Cincin...naaah even I can't say that without sounding like a complete dumb-ass."

Seriously, why would Stoops want to leave Oklahoma for a lesser program?

I quoted the sports writer on Jim Rome's show from earlier this week on a different thread. I will do so again to show you WHY Stoops would leave for Notre Dame. Think about the fan bases for a second...Sonofanump wrote: Seriously, why would Stoops want to leave Oklahoma for a lesser program?
"If you win at Oklahoma, you're the king of Oklahoma. If you win at Florida, you're the king of Florida. If you win at Notre Dame, you're the king of the world!"
Why would Stoops leave for ND? Well since we haven't talked about this at all since November 18th when the leak was first talked about....
ND is a good school. They can get good recruits. They have facilities that are second to none. And...believe this...the coach that brings ND back to prominence WILL GO DOWN IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY AS A LEGEND. Period. What coach doesn't want to be remembered as a legend?!

I agree, Notre Dame is a better gig than Oklahoma. I maybe saw Oklahoma on TV once or twice this year, and honestly I don't even know what their scores are most weeks.
But I watched a lot of Notre Dame games and I always check to see their scores. Not because I'm a fan, but because I find them interesting and I disliked Charlie Weis. Either way, I was watching the game just like anyone else, and in my world they were relevant.

Not necessarily, because I don't think I've seen Texas at all, other than maybe one half. I understand the regional games and all that, but the Big XII just isn't seen much here.

That's why tv stinks as far as what games they put on.
Bad teams get way too much airtime.

Please, tell me you are NOT that stupid. TV schedules are made up a year in advance. There are no NFL-style flex games. Bradford 's injury means nothing in the scope of games played on television.ccrunner609 wrote: ^^^^If Braford wasnt injured this season you would see Ok. every week because they would be ranked #1 in the country.

Gotta agree with ccrunners fail- ABC adjusts their primetime games during the season in collaboration with conferences. You would've seen Oklahoma a lot more this year.crusader1980 wrote:Please, tell me you are NOT that stupid. TV schedules are made up a year in advance. There are no NFL-style flex games. locally? yeah
nationally? hardly, and not as much as notre dame is on NATIONAL television each week.
no other team is advertised nationally as much as notre dame.

Get off your high horse. College football is on TV everywhere. This isn't 10yrs ago, when ND had NBC, and no other conferences had anything. Now both the Big10 and SEC have TV packages where their top teams are on TV every single week. People can and do buy the college football packages on TV as well. The exposure that college football is getting over the past 10yrs...has caught up with ND easily. Recruits could care less about NBC and ND. If they decided to attend one of the top programs, they will get as much exposure and probably more seeing as those programs have been, and are better then ND. You think over the past 10yrs that ND has got as much PR as OSU, Fla, USC to name a few? If they have, its been negative in terms of searching for a coach, and their on the field failures. This comment reads true in recent article:rocket31 wrote: locally? yeah

"Once you look past the storied tradition, the majestic campus, the NBC contract and seemingly endless pocketbook, you're left with a school chasing ghosts. You're left with a fan base whose expectations (top-10 rankings, national titles) were forged during another era when the school's independent status still carried cachet and its stringent academic standards were a selling point, not a hindrance. With a few notable exceptions, today's national-title-caliber talent grows up watching specific conferences (the SEC, then Big Ten, etc.), not the NBC game of the week, and they don't necessarily boast high SAT scores, either. Some -- like Clausen, Floyd and Tate -- are bona fide blue-chippers. Others become Tom Lemming All-Americans simply because the Irish recruit them.

however, the fact remains that notre dame gets more NATIONAL coverage than any other...whether you want to admit it or not.
big ten network reaches limited audiences compared to NBC and the fact you brought that up as a comparison is quite amusing.
