I've been in a long discussion about this young lady for a few days now on one of the film forums I frequent, and in honor of her birthday tomorrow, I thought I would create a thread to see what you guys think of her ACTING. If you don't know who she is off the top of your head, she's the girl that has played Joseph Gordon-Levitt's sister in "500 days of Summer", 'Hit Girl' in "Kick Ass" and most recently played 'Abby' or basically, a vampire in "Let Me In" an American remake of 2008's Swedish film "Let the Right One In". She has 3 films coming out this year, including one about the Texas killing fields (The Fields) and "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" with Martin Scorsese directing, plus Kick Ass 2 in 2012.

I assume this won't be a real popular thread since she's so young, but those that have seen some/all of these movies, what do you think of her? I was a film major for half of my college career and have spent the past several years studying the art on my own, and I have to say she's probably the best actress I've ever seen at her age. Based on a few interviews I've seen of her, she's incredibly smart for her age, and is pretty down to earth. She doesn't come off like one of those "show kids" that have been trained how to act since she could talk. Is the sky the limit for her? Assuming that she keeps her head on her shoulders?

And please, for all the pervs, lets keep this thread devoid of the usual stuff. I enjoy the pics/talk of LEGAL women as much as anybody on here, but she turns 14 tomorrow so please be respectful.

^^I highly suggest "Let Me In" if you liked Kick Ass. It's not that Twilight bullshit, and it's got some nice moments in it. She's been getting some Oscar and AA buzz for it.

Also, isn't Kick Ass 2 going to be called Balls to the Wall?

It is. And my guess is it's going to be pretty sweet because it's going to age with her, so by the time it comes out, Hit Girl will be like 14/15 in the movie as well as in real life, instead of 11 like she was in the first one, and my guess is that she'll be physically stronger and able to do even more action-wise than she did in the first one.

Mark Sanchez would hit it. Big Ben probably already took it against her will.

Here you go ETB:

And also, here's the link to "Hugo Cabret" which is the movie I'm really excited about for her. If she is as good in it as she has been in recent films, she'll have a real chance at winning some awards with Scorsese's name associated with it.

She can act - far far better than the grossly overrated Dakota Fanning, who is just creepy.

I'm not sold on her acting just yet, but I've only seen her in kick ass. I just borrowed Let the right one in and Let me in today, so I'll have more info on her soon. (I didn't want to see the American version first because I think it will bias me against the swedish version and I've wanted to see that since it came out.

Hope to see you post on this again after you watch it. I was blown away be her performance in Let Me In. If you havent already watched them, I'd watch the original first, and then Let Me in so you can compare. She will probably be left out of any major consideration for an Oscar or AA due to her age, but with the films she's picking (a film with Martin Scorsese directing coming later this year) if she keeps turning in good performances, she'll eventually win one IMO. I personally love how down to earth and genuine she seems, especially for a girl her age, in the interviews I've seen of her. You can tell she really loves acting and takes her work seriously, which is a nice breath of fresh air considering SOME of the young talent (say ages 12-25) today.
